Shining in Every Phase

My Daily Musings-Feb.23rd, 2026

I came across this quote by Nichole McElhaney:
“And the Moon said to me—you do not have to be whole in order to shine.”

The moon is never truly dark. Even when it is just a sliver in the night sky, it still gives light. It still pushes back the darkness.

How often do we wait until we feel “whole” before we allow ourselves to shine? How often do we believe our light only matters when it feels full and bright?

The truth is, even when we feel weary, broken, or discouraged—when our light feels like the faintest crescent—we can still shine. A kind word. A quiet prayer. A small act of faith. These are slivers of light that matter more than we realize.

And as we choose to shine, even in small ways, something beautiful happens: the darkness inside us begins to lift. Light grows when it is shared.

We do not have to be whole to shine. We only need to turn toward the Light. Jesus Christ is the source of it all. And even when we feel like only a thin crescent, His light through us can still illuminate the night.

So today, even if your light feels small—will you let it shine?
