My Daily Musings-August 19th, 2026

My husband and I have been watching the show, The Chosen in the Wild, where Bear Grylls takes some of the cast of the show, The Chosen, on an adventure in the wild. He talks to them about the show and their lives.

Dallas Jenkins, the producer of The Chosen, was on an episode I watched recently. After he did a very physical challenge across a river, he said that “surrender and humility always precede growth.” That could be applied to our lives. We all have hard trials that feel like they might break us at times. But if we are humble, trust in our Heavenly Father, and completely surrender to His will, we can grow and develop into the people He wants us to be.

It is hard for me to surrender to my Heavenly Father’s will that having chronic illness symptoms that disrupt my every day life is what I need to experience now. But I trust that He will help me make it through every day, and experience joy in the journey along the way.

It is hard to surrender our will to our Father’s will because we don’t know what is going to happen next. We need to have faith that our Heavenly Father has a plan for each one of us, that He has a purpose for our lives, and that He can do more good in our lives than we ever could.

Trusting God’s Answers

My Daily Musings-August 18th, 2026

I was talking with a friend a few days ago. We were talking about her current trial. She said that she had spoken to her aunt about it. Her aunt told her that she knew what it felt like when her prayers were not answered. My friend has a lot of faith. We said to each other that our prayers are always answered, but sometimes not in the way we expect them to be. Our timing isn’t God’s timing and our ways are not His ways.

We may sometimes feel like our prayers are not answered when our trials are not removed. We may struggle every day with a specific trial and ask our Heavenly Father to remove it from our lives. But I have learned in my life that we go through our specific trials for a reason. Our trials are tailor-made for us and can help us learn and grow in this life.

Yes, sometimes my faith wavers and I doubt because I’m human. But at the end of the day, when I kneel to my Heavenly Father in prayer, I can feel Him near me. My prayers are not always answered in the way I thought or wished they would be, but I know that they are answered in one way or another.

For my situation, living with chronic illness symptoms every day, I pray multiple times a day that I can have faith and trust in my Heavenly Father to accept that His will may be done in my life. We all need to keep our faith intact and know that our prayers are heard and answered. We also need to trust in God’s timing and promises that He will help us through our trials.

What Job Taught Me About Faith

I recently read some of Job’s story in the Old Testament. I actually really relate to his story now more than I ever have in my life. His life is so great at the beginning of the book of Job. He has a nice property, family, friends, and livestock. Basically, he has it all, as we would say now.

But then everything is taken away from him. Reading his story again makes me feel better about my trials and problems. At least I don’t have it as bad as Job did. I think we can learn a lot from his story. He did doubt and lament his losses.

But at the end of the day, he still trusted in God to strengthen him and get him through those hard times. He had incredible faith that I don’t know if I would have if I were in his situation.

In Job 13:13,15, Job says,

“Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will.

Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.”

In verse 15, Job is expressing his willingness to trust God even in the face of death or extreme adversity.

That’s what I need to learn from Job’s story: no matter what trials I face, no matter what happens to me, I still need to trust in God to get me through. I need to have that kind of faith.

As Endless as the Sky

My Daily Musings-July 22nd, 2026

One of the characters in the book The Lumber Baron’s Wife by Lynn Austin talks about God’s love being as endless as the sky. If you look up at the sky, you can’t see the end of it, it seems like it goes on forever. Our Heavenly Father’s love is like that. We can feel it and we know it is there, but we can’t see the end of it because it is endless and eternal. I thought that was a really good analogy.

As someone who grew up with my parents teaching me about my Heavenly Father and that He always loved me and cared about me, I have kept that belief all of my life. I feel the love of my Heavenly Father the most when I kneel to Him in prayer. Every time I pray with sincere effort and wanting to communicate with Him, I feel His love for me.

Have you ever paused to look at the sky and let it remind you of God’s endless love? When have you felt His love most personally?

We can feel His love for us any time and anywhere. He will shower us with His endless love whenever we need it.

My Daily Musings-July 20th, 2026

“The Christian life is a process of having your natural self changed into a Christ self. One’s most private wishes, one’s point of view, are the things that have to be changed.” — C.S. Lewis

I love this quote by C.S. Lewis. I also love his story. He spent years as an atheist before carefully researching, pondering, and eventually embracing Christianity. Once he found Christ, he was all in. His life and writings continue to inspire me because they reflect a sincere desire to follow the Savior.

This quote reminds me that becoming a Christian isn’t just about changing what we do—it is about allowing Jesus Christ to change who we are. It means setting aside our own desires, aligning our will with His, and making our Savior and our Heavenly Father the center of our lives.

I know I still have a long way to go, but I want to become more like Christ each day. As I put Him first, I trust that He will guide my life, strengthen me, and help me become the person He knows I can be.
