My Daily Musings-May 31st, 2026
“Don’t save something for a special occasion. Every day of your life is a special occasion.” — Thomas S. Monson
I think as humans we often wait for some future moment before we allow ourselves to fully appreciate life. We tell ourselves, I’ll be happier when this changes or I’ll be more grateful once things get easier. But life is happening right now, in this very moment.
President Thomas S. Monson’s quote reminds me that every single day is a gift from God. Every sunrise, every quiet moment, every small blessing is reason enough to be grateful. Even in the middle of difficult trials, there is still goodness to notice and blessings to count.
What if we stopped waiting for life to become perfect before choosing gratitude? What if the “special occasion” is simply the fact that we are here today?
I have learned through my own experiences that constantly wishing for things to get better can sometimes keep us from seeing the beauty and blessings already surrounding us. Gratitude does not mean life is easy; it means we recognize that God is still good in the middle of hard things.
Every day we are given is sacred. Every moment matters. And perhaps the happiest hearts are the ones that learn to cherish ordinary days as extraordinary gifts.
