Together in the Light

My Daily Musings-June 8th, 2026

I was listening to an episode of the Latter-day Lights podcast and heard a simple idea that stayed with me: white light is made up of all the visible colors of light combined.

That made me think about us.

We are all different—different backgrounds, cultures, experiences, and perspectives. Yet each of us carries a light that matters. What if those differences aren’t meant to divide us, but to complete the picture? What if we were meant to shine together the way colors unite to form something greater than themselves?

Do we sometimes forget that our differences were designed with purpose? And what could change in our families, communities, and world if we chose to see each other’s light instead of focusing on what separates us?

I believe our Heavenly Father loves each of us individually and intentionally created us as we are. When we unite our light instead of letting differences in religion, politics, or life circumstances pull us apart, we can become something powerful—a collective force of goodness and hope in this world.

When God Gives You a Voice

My Daily Musings-June 7th, 2026

There are times when I wonder if my writing makes a difference. I wonder if anyone is truly touched by the words I share each day.

But then I remember that a few years ago, Heavenly Father helped me discover a gift I didn’t know I had—a love for writing poetry. Later, He inspired me to start this website and share daily thoughts about faith and my journey. Some days that calling has felt overwhelming, especially when my health makes writing difficult.

Still, I feel compelled to continue. Heavenly Father gave me a voice and opportunities to use it. My task is simply to be willing.

Have you discovered a gift that surprised you? Is there something God may be prompting you to do, even if it feels daunting?

I hope my words have encouraged you along your path. As I write them, they encourage me along mine.

The Lighthouse Through the Storm

My Daily Musings-June 6th, 2026

“Be the light that survives the storm.”

I’ve always loved lighthouses. Maybe that’s partly because one of my favorite movies growing up—and still one of my favorites today—is the original Pete’s Dragon. There is something inspiring about a lighthouse standing strong through wind, rain, and crashing waves.

What amazes me is that no matter how fierce the storm becomes, as long as the light continues to shine, ships can find their way. That light provides direction, hope, and safety when everything else seems uncertain.

Life brings storms to all of us. Sometimes we are the ones struggling through dark and difficult days, and sometimes we have the opportunity to help someone else through theirs. Heavenly Father wants us to be lights that continue to shine even when life is challenging. We can encourage others, offer kindness, and share hope with those who may be feeling lost.

At the same time, we need to keep our own light burning. Choosing hope, focusing on the good, and trusting that brighter days will come can help us weather our own storms.

For me, the ultimate light in every storm is Jesus Christ. When the winds of life feel overwhelming, His light never goes out. Because of Him, there is always hope. Because of Him, there is always a way forward. His light shines in the darkness and guides us safely through life’s storms.

Who has been a lighthouse in your life during a difficult season?

How can you be a light for someone who may be struggling right now?

More Than Our Mistakes

Thank you for subscribing-may these words bring a quiet moment of peace and reflection to your day.

My Daily Musings-June 5th, 2026

We are all human, and because of that, we all make mistakes. Sometimes we look back on things we’ve said or done and wish we had made different choices. We may even find ourselves focusing on our weaknesses and shortcomings more than we should.

But what good comes from constantly beating ourselves up? Does dwelling on our mistakes help us become better, or does it simply keep us stuck in the past?

Our Heavenly Father knew we would fall short. He knew we would make mistakes and struggle with weaknesses. That is why He lovingly provided a Savior, His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Through His Atonement, we can repent, be forgiven, and keep moving forward.

That’s really all we can do—seek forgiveness, learn from our mistakes, and try our hardest to become better. Heavenly Father knows our hearts and our efforts, and He loves us through every step of the journey.

Instead of letting our shortcomings weigh us down, what if we used them as opportunities to draw closer to Christ? What if, rather than focusing on how far we still have to go, we focused on taking the next step toward Him?

We don’t overcome our weaknesses on our own. We overcome them through Jesus Christ. As we turn to Him and trust in His grace, He can help us become more than we could ever become by ourselves.

Don’t Clog the Drain

My Daily Musings-June 4th, 2026

I was talking with my therapist yesterday about emotions, and something she said really resonated with me.

Over the past couple of years, I’ve learned that feeling all emotions—even discouraging, painful, and depressing ones—is okay. Emotions are part of being human. Ignoring them or pretending they aren’t there doesn’t make them disappear.

But I’ve also learned that while we should acknowledge those difficult emotions, we shouldn’t allow them to take up permanent residence in our minds and hearts.

My therapist compared emotions to taking a shower. We let the water wash over us, just as we allow ourselves to feel our emotions and bring them to the surface. But we don’t want the drain to become clogged. The water is meant to flow through and continue on its way.

What if we treated our difficult emotions the same way? What if we allowed ourselves to feel them without letting them become stuck? What emotions might you need to acknowledge today and then gently let go?

Difficult emotions will come and go throughout life. The goal isn’t to avoid them altogether. The goal is to let them move through us rather than letting them define us.
