The Beautiful Exchange

My Daily Musings-July 1st, 2026

“Christ says, ‘Give me all. I don’t want so much of your time and your money and your work: I want you… Hand over the whole natural self… I will give you a new self instead.'” — C.S. Lewis

I love this quote because it reminds me that Jesus isn’t just asking for part of our lives—He’s asking for our whole hearts. When we willingly give our souls to Him, He begins a beautiful work within us.

As we come to know the Savior better and strive to follow His example each day, He gradually changes us. Our desires become more like His. Our hearts become softer, our faith grows stronger, and we become more loving, patient, and compassionate. Little by little, He helps us become the people He created us to be.

What part of your heart are you still holding back from the Savior? How has Christ helped you become a better version of yourself as you’ve trusted Him more fully?

  1. I love the phrasing Lewis uses here: ‘I will give you a new self instead.’ It reminds me that the Savior doesn’t just patch up our broken pieces; He completely transforms us from the inside out. It’s a daily, sometimes moment-by-moment exchange of our weakness for His strength. What part of this quote speaks the most to your heart today?
