Christ says, “Give me all. I don’t want so much of your time and your money and your work: I want you… Hand over the whole natural self… I will give you a new self instead.” — C. S. Lewis
I love this quote, especially knowing that C. S. Lewis was once an atheist. When he came to believe in Christ, he didn’t hold back. He was all in.
This quote resonates deeply with me because it reminds me that Christ doesn’t ask for a polished version of us. He asks for all of us—our weaknesses, our fears, the messy and broken parts of our souls that we would rather keep hidden.
And the beautiful promise is this: when we give ourselves fully to Him, He doesn’t leave us as we are. Through His grace, His love, and His Atonement, He makes us more than we could ever become on our own. What we surrender, He redeems. What feels ugly or insufficient in us, He transforms.
Following Christ isn’t about self-perfection—it’s about full trust. And in that trust, we find a new self, shaped by His love.
Here are a couple questions to ask yourself: What parts of myself am I still holding back from Christ? How might my life change if I trusted Him with all of me, not just the easy parts?
