Backstory:
The other day it was snowing most of the day and it felt like winter even though it was March. I decided that day to bake a few recipes so I could have my oven on and warm up my apartment. Doing this on a cold day helped me be more positive and it made me more grateful that I could be inside and warm. This made me think to myself, “How can I feel good inside my soul even when the world is going crazy outside? And how can I apply this to my life?”
Optimism Found in Christ
If you just watch the news or scroll through social media for a minute you will know that this world has gone crazy,
We have to live in this world but we don’t need to let the chaos ruin us inside and be spiritually lazy.
We should know what’s going on in the world because we still live here and we don’t want to seem spacey,
But I think there is a way to be more positive and optimistic so we can navigate it more safely.
I read in a book about WWII recently that “happiness is not something that can be taken away from you”,
We get to choose how we respond to what is going on around us so we can choose to have a better view.
Even when there is so much turmoil and chaos we can view things through a lens that is new,
We can be more optimistic and be among the more positive few.
So, how can we accomplish something that might seem impossible at first?
Jesus said in the Bible, “I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth in me shall never thirst.”
Jesus isn’t talking about our physical need for water or food but our more spiritual needs that through Him can be nursed,
If we focus on Him even when there is constant turmoil around us we can have our spirits in goodness immersed.
If we think about our physical hunger and thirst, after we eat and drink we automatically feel better,
If we focus our lives more on Jesus then He can help us feel warm inside like on a cold day when we put on a sweater.
He can help us heal from anything we go through and can be our safe shelter,
All we have to do is to make him our favorite center.
It is hard in this crazy world to not let the world depress and drain us spiritually,
But if we focus on all the chaos we will self-destruct eventually.
We have a Loving Brother who can help us more safely navigate the world luckily,
So that with Him by our side every day we will have less difficulty.
The Takeaway: We live in a crazy world. But we get to choose how the world affects us. If we choose to focus on our Savior, Jesus Christ, we can feel more optimism and we can be sure that He will help us even when life is hard.
