Backstory:
I have heard many times that Jesus is the Light and the Life of the World. I heard that on a podcast recently and it penetrated my heart. This made me wonder to myself, “how can Jesus be the Light and the Life in my daily life? So I want to explore each one and how knowing those things can help me have a better perspective in my life. Just knowing and studying the life and example of Jesus has always given me hope and helped me overcome challenges in my life. But how can I incorporate this into my daily life?

Jesus, the Light and Life of the World

Jesus as the Light of the World to me means that because of His amazing example,
I can try to emulate what He did for in Him, I have a good sample.
In Him I have an example to sink my teeth into like a good crisp apple,
Because of Him I can always feel like my blessings are more than ample.

Knowing about Jesus and His atoning sacrifice gives me great hope,
And because He knows what I’m going through, with my trials I can more easily cope.
Even on my hard days when I feel like I’m at the end of my rope,
I should feel better because of Him and I don’t need to constantly mope.

Jesus as the Life of the world means to me that because of Him I can have a new life,
I don’t need to feel like my world is in constant strife.
My trials don’t have to hurt so much like I’m being constantly cut with a knife,
Because of Him my life can seem beautiful like someone playing a fife.

I know that because of Jesus I can be resurrected and have a perfect body someday,
There are days when my body causes me so much grief that I wish that day could be today.
Because of Jesus I can see my loved ones again and that will be a happy day,
Because of Him I can have more joy than I can say.

So how can I internalize this into my life and feel more joy?
I can read about Him more in the scriptures and focus on that instead of on outward influences that want my hope to destroy.
I can focus more on how I can be a better person instead of other things that can constantly annoy,
And I feel like focusing on Jesus more would help me count my blessings and my life I would then more enjoy.

The Takeaway: Jesus as the Life and Light of the World should give us hope. Because of His example and sacrifice there is always hope, no matter what chaos and craziness is happening around us. We can always turn to Him and He always understands what we are going through and can help us get through those difficult times.
