Backstory:
Recently, my therapist asked me a good question that I needed to think about. She asked, “Where do you think you want to be by the end of the year?” I didn’t think about material possessions or wealth. I thought about the personal growth I want to see in myself spiritually and emotionally.
Growing in His Grace
I am on a constant quest every day to become a better person,
I am definitely human and I make mistakes, for this I am certain.
I have so many weaknesses that I am trying to overcome,
It’s so overwhelming sometimes, but I’m sure this happens to everyone.
I think sometimes that I am too hard on myself,
I shouldn’t stress so much about it and just put it on the shelf.
Some days I feel like I take one step forward,
And I feel good about the person I am becoming on my quest onward.
Then I have days when accidentally without realizing it, I stumble and take a couple steps back,
But as long as those days aren’t too frequent, then I’m on the right track.
I want to look back on my year and say that I didn’t feel alone,
Even though I had struggles, I never felt on my own.
I want to see that even on my hardest days, when darkness seemed to overwhelm me,
That because of my Heavenly Father’s and my Savior’s hand in my life, I could break free.
I want to see that my faith has grown,
So that when I have a hard day, I can pray to my Father even easier than picking up a phone.
We are all human and we need to constantly make course corrections in our journey,
But if we are going the right way most of the time, then we don’t need to worry.
We just need to trust in our Father to show us the way,
And to trust in His Beloved Son, because for our sins and weaknesses He did pay.
The Takeaway: We are all human and we constantly make mistakes, sometimes without even realizing that we do. We take steps forward and feel like we are doing ok, but we also have days when we fail and we stumble a couple steps back. We need to remember that our Heavenly Father loves us and He knows we are going to fail at times. That’s why He sent His Son, so that we can make course corrections and keep moving forward in the right direction.
