Backstory:
I have heard the phrase, “Peace like a river” many times. I felt compelled to delve into it deeper. So I googled it. Google said about the phrase that it “evokes a sense of continuous flowing and abundant tranquility. It suggests a peace that is constant and ever-renewing, similar to how a river flows without ceasing.” I really like this definition. I think that the only times in my life I have felt this inner peace is in a religious sense, from my Heavenly Father and His Spirit. How can we feel more of this peace when there is so much chaos and confusion around us?

A River of God's Peace

In this crazy world we might often feel discouraged and confused,
And if we let those feelings stay too long, our spirit might feel bruised.
If you feel like that very often
Then maybe your spirit is the problem.

Just picture a river always tranquil and constant,
Like this river we can feel peace in an instant.
It may seem difficult because we may feel stressed
And our spirit might feel like a huge weight in it is being constantly pressed.

Because of our faith in God
We can feel peace because He is constantly cheering for our squad.
God is the source of our peace that is constantly flowing like a river,
And if we turn to Him in our time of trouble He can help us swim upriver.

Rivers provide sustenance and life to the land they flow through,
Similarly, peace from God can nourish and sustain us anew.
Rivers carry fresh water,
And with this feeling we can feel renewed and refreshed if we just come to God’s altar.

Rivers also navigate around every obstacle in the way
So this peace can help us navigate the challenges we face every day.
So, peace like a river suggests a deep and abiding peace,
Suggesting that with God’s peace, our doubts and worries would cease.

The Takeaway: We live in a crazy world with constant confusion and chaos. Sometimes we might feel discouraged because we have to live in this fallen world. But we can feel peace like a flowing and calm river even on our darkest days. That peace comes only from our Loving Father in Heaven. He loves us so much and He desires to share His peace with us. We just have to seek it and to seek Him to feel this peace.
