Backstory:
I have always been taught to forgive others. It is at the very core of most Christian faiths. I have had people in my life who have hurt my feelings. When I was growing up, I had a lot of bullies who were mean to me, calling me mean names, making fun of me and making me feel bad about myself. I had a tendency to get offended easily and I had a hard time forgiving people easily. Then when I became an adult and started developing who I wanted to be, I realized that I didn’t want to be that kind of person anymore who doesn’t forgive easily and who gets offended easily. So I started praying hard to my Heavenly Father to help me be better at those things. It hasn’t been easy for me to change my very nature. I’m sure it is hard for everyone. But I know that with the help of my loving Heavenly Father, that I can change and become better. He doesn’t want me to stay the same person. He wants me to change and will help me to change.

A New Nature in Him

I have been thinking about forgiveness recently,
I know that I need to forgive others frequently.
It is hard sometimes when others hurt my feelings sometimes so easily,
But I feel like most people don’t mean to hurt me so needlessly.

I never know what is going on in someone’s life and in their mind,
If I knew their circumstance then maybe I would be more kind.
I know that it is not easy to forgive someone who is unkind,
But I am asked to forgive and then maybe for me more forgiveness I will find.

There have been bullies in my life while I was growing up and as a teen,
I don’t know why some people tend to be mean.
But maybe there is something going on in their life that is unseen,
So I just need to forgive them so that my conscience can be clean.

It’s not up to me to judge other people,
I don’t know their motives but maybe they are fearful.
Learning to forgive is hard but it will make my life more peaceful,
And when I give those unkind feelings away then I can be more grateful.

When I have a hard time forgiving someone I just think of my loving Heavenly Father,
He will always forgive me and to Him I am never a bother.
Because of His loving kindness towards me I need to forgive my brother,
And because of His loving grace my life can be so much sweeter.

The Takeaway: Sometimes it can be hard to forgive people who are mean to you, with no reason to act that way. But we need to think of the amazing love our Heavenly Father has for us at those times. He always forgives and is kind to us so we need to do the same for all of our fellow brothers and sisters here on the earth.
