Backstory:
I have been thinking about the Golden Rule lately. It states, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” I also remembered the parable in the Bible about casting a beam out of your eye before you look at the mote in anyone else’s eye. Then I thought of how kind Jesus is to me all the time, no matter what. And I asked myself, “How can I be more kind to others like Jesus is so kind to me?” I like the idea that we should think of how kind Jesus is to each of us and we should treat others like He treats us. I think that’s a deeper meaning of the Golden Rule.


Looking At My Own Heart

We are all imperfect people 
Trying our best to make our lives more peaceful.
We fall short and make mistakes over and over again,
Our brothers and sisters also make mistakes and them we should never condemn.

When we are kind and gentle towards others,
We are practicing the grace we long to receive from our sisters and brothers.
We should look deep into our own heart,
Before we criticize or demean others when they are just doing their part.

We all have flaws-some are large and some are tiny,
Noticing our own helps our hearts soften so we can treat others more kindly.
How we treat other people is like looking into a mirror of our heart,
And hopefully we can see deep within ourselves that we are a work of art.

Our Savior, Jesus Christ is always so kind and loving towards us,
And we should be kind to others which would be a big plus.
We should mirror our Savior’s loving example 
As a way to treat other people for a sample.

When Jesus was on the earth
He never condemned a sinner and he always let them know of their Divine Worth.
So we shouldn’t condemn others and instead treat them with kindness,
And then we can feel in our lives more holiness.
 
The Takeaway: We can learn so much from the example of our Savior, Jesus Christ. When He was on the earth, He didn’t condemn or demean anyone, even sinners. We should look deep into our hearts and work on our flaws before we criticize other people for theirs. That’s how our Savior would want us to treat them.
