Backstory:
I have always loved music, especially religious hymns. One of my favorite hymns is “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”. Lately I have had this line running through my head, “Here’s my heart, Lord, take and seal it, seal it for thy courts above.” I googled this phrase and it gave me additional insight I would like to explore. Google said about this phrase, that it “is a powerful declaration of faith and a prayer for spiritual protection and guidance. It reflects a longing to be fully transformed by God and to live a life that reflects His love and grace.”
Lord, I Offer You My Heart
We are here on this earth as humans together,
We sometimes let each other down even though we don’t mean to be an oppressor,
We can count on God to be with us no matter the weather,
He will never let us down and He will be our constant avenger.
Sometimes things happen that can break our hearts in pieces,
We can feel so weak that help can seem beyond our reaches,
When we feel like this our need for Divine help from above increases,
We can know that our Father is always there even though our challenges might seem grievous.
We can just give our heart to God our Father,
He can help us progress down the road of righteousness farther,
We can trust that to Him we are never a bother,
Without Him by our side our road would definitely be harder.
So, Father, I offer my whole being to you,
You can see my life from a better view,
I know that you will help see me through,
Please, help me understand my life and take your cue.
Please, Father protect and support me,
Help me trust in you so I can more clearly see,
I want to be forever bound to you so that I can feel more free,
Please, help transform me into the person you want me to be.
The Takeaway: If we trust in God enough to give Him our heart and our whole being, we can know that He will help transform us into the person He wants us to be. He can help heal our hearts, He can protect us and support us if we just let Him.
