It is so easy to let our thoughts drift backward—lingering on mistakes, missed opportunities, or even just “the way things used to be.” But when we spend too much time in the past, we often lose the ability to see the blessings right in front of us.

Moving forward isn’t about ignoring our history; it’s about deciding that our present gratitude and our future hope deserve more of our attention than our past regrets. Peace comes when we stop looking back and start looking up. Today, I am choosing to be grateful for the “now” and hopeful for the “next.”

I’d love to hear from you: How do you pull yourself back into the present when the past feels heavy? What is one thing you are hopeful for this week? Please reply and let’s talk in the comments!

Strength You Didn’t See

My Daily Musings-April 26th, 2026

“Now, every time I witness a strong person, I want to know: what darkness did you conquer in your story? Mountains do not rise without earthquakes.”

I’ve thought about that a lot lately.

There are days I don’t feel strong at all. Some days it doesn’t feel like strength—it feels like I’m just moving forward because I don’t know how not to. Just putting one foot in front of the other and hoping that’s enough.

And yet, I’ve had people tell me I’m strong.

Maybe strength doesn’t always look the way we think it should. Maybe it isn’t loud or fearless. Maybe it’s quiet. Maybe it’s continuing on when your heart feels heavy. Maybe it’s choosing to stay when it would be easier to give up.

Mountains don’t rise without earthquakes. And maybe that means something for us too.

What if the shaking in our lives isn’t just breaking us—but shaping us?
What if the very things that feel like they’re pulling us apart are, in time, helping us rise?

I don’t think the darkness is wasted. I think God sees it, and somehow, He uses it.

And maybe one day, we’ll look back and realize…
we were becoming something stronger than we ever knew.

What has shaped you the most in your life?
And can you see, even just a little, how it might be helping you rise?

Centered on Him, Abiding in Him

My Daily Musings-April 20th, 2026

Earlier this year, my wonderful Aunt Cindy shared something simple but powerful with me. She said she likes to choose one word to focus on for the year. Her word this year is Center—a reminder to center her life more fully on Christ.

I loved that idea. It stayed with me.

As I thought and prayed about what my word could be, one came to my heart: Abide.

I’ve written recently about my desire for my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ, to abide with me—to not just visit in fleeting moments, but to remain, to stay, to be a constant presence in my life. Abide felt like the perfect word to hold onto this year.

Since choosing it, I’ve tried to be more intentional about noticing when I feel Their love abiding with me. And the beautiful thing is—I have felt it. Many times. In quiet moments, in small mercies, in gentle reminders that I am not alone.

What is something you are choosing to focus on right now?
What helps you feel closer to the Savior in your everyday life?

When Prayer Becomes Listening

My Daily Musings-April 11th, 2026

Mother Teresa once said, “Prayer is not asking. Prayer is putting oneself in the hands of God at His disposition and listening to His voice in the depths of our hearts.”

That thought has stayed with me.

I’ve been trying to listen more when I pray to my Heavenly Father—but if I’m honest, it’s not always easy. So often my prayers come when I’ve just woken up or right before I fall asleep, and I don’t always take the time to simply be still and listen. Maybe I’m not the only one who has felt that.

What if prayer is meant to be more than a list of needs? What if it’s also meant to be a quiet space where we let Him speak?

Heavenly Father truly wants to hear from us—our worries, our hopes, and the things we carry deep in our hearts. But He also invites us to slow down, to listen, and to just spend time with Him.

When was the last time I paused long enough to hear His voice? And what might He be trying to tell me if I made just a little more space to listen?

Finding the Light After the Storm

I recently finished an audiobook called The Heiress of All Things Beautiful by Anita Stansfield. It’s a poignant story—at times quite heavy—centered on a family escaping a cycle of abuse. While their early years were defined by hardship, the heart of the book is really about what happens next: the way they find a new life filled with love, friendship, and the difficult path of forgiveness.

I feel incredibly grateful to come from a very loving family, and because of that, I have such deep admiration for those who navigate deep-seated family struggles and emerge stronger. It’s a reminder that while our trials look different, the capacity to learn from them and become “better” rather than “bitter” is a beautiful part of the human spirit.

We all face “storms,” but we also all have the capacity to find our own version of joy on the other side.
