My Daily Musings-September 3rd, 2026

“Sometimes God leads you down a road you never would have chosen to grow something in you that you did not know you needed.”

I think most adults can agree that our lives didn’t exactly turn out the way we thought they would. I talked with my sister about this a while back. I told her that my life didn’t turn out the way I thought it would. I expected to be a mother, and that didn’t happen for me. But that doesn’t mean that I regret my life. I have a wonderful life with many great blessings I’m very thankful for. My sister agreed that her life also didn’t turn out the way she thought it would.

That’s why I love the idea that sometimes our Heavenly Father leads us down a road we didn’t expect so that we can have the experiences we need. We are here on this earth to learn and grow, and develop into the people our Heavenly Father wants us to become.

I try not to focus on the things I don’t have and be grateful for the beautiful life I do have. That’s why I write down my daily gratitude before I go to bed every night. It helps me focus on my blessings and be grateful instead of focusing on other things that aren’t important.

My Daily Musings-August 22nd, 2026

I recently listened to the song by Sissel called Slow Down. Here are the lyrics to the song because I think its message is very important for us in our busy and chaotic world.

In the midst of my confusion
In the time of desperate need
When I am thinking not too clearly
A gentle voice does intercede

I was deeply touched by the message of this song. In this crazy, busy, and chaotic world, do we really take the time to slow down, be still, wait, and hear God’s voice so that we can know that He is God? Do we take the time to be still and study the scriptures, be still and pray, be still and just rest in the fact that our Heavenly Father is who He says He is? Or are we so consumed with our never-ending to-do lists that we don’t have the time we need for sacred things?

I think we are all guilty of not slowing down enough to listen and to pray to our Heavenly Father. Our souls and hearts need spiritual nourishment to function, just like our physical bodies need water and food. I sometimes forget to pray throughout the day and I can surely notice a difference in my day. I have a better day. I’m in a better mood if I take the time to read my scriptures, pray and just be still and know that He is God.

From Why to Trust

Backstory:

As I was listening to the audiobook, Welcome to the Honey B&B by Melody Carlson, something one of the characters said really stuck out to me. She had been caring for her husband who had FTD, an early-onset type of dementia. She said to her daughter and granddaughter that she heard God speaking to her one day. He told her to stop asking why and just to trust Him in the future. That can be applied to our lives. We all have hard trials we have to go through in this life. If we stop asking God,  “Why is this happening to us?” and just trust in Him and His plan for our lives, then we can find more purpose in our trials.

From Why to Trust

I woke up one day not feeling like me,
As I fell to the floor on bended knee.
I knew something wasn’t right with my body and mind
Because I usually had more energy and strength than I could find.

I went to so many doctors and was put on so many medications,
Only to be dismissed and not have very many explanations.
I started asking my Heavenly Father, “Why was this happening?
And why was my life so different than I had been imagining?”

When chronic illness strikes its ugly head
And you struggle to get out of your bed.
You go through this cycle of asking why
When you are alone in the darkness and you cry.

If you stay close to your Father in Heaven,
You can eventually see that He is there for you without question.
Even though you may never know the answer to why,
You make peace with your diagnosis and you feel like you can try.

You try to trust in your Heavenly Father’s plan for you,
As you pour out your heart to Him, for that’s all you can do.
So you patiently wait for His guidance and peace,
As you try to let your worries and cares cease.

The Takeaway: We all face hard trials in this life that feel like they might break us apart. For those people with chronic illness, every day can be a struggle between constantly asking, “Why is this happening to me?” and trying to trust in your Heavenly Father’s plan for you. He is always there, ready to embrace you with open arms and loving hands.

Jesus, My Refuge

My Daily Musings-August 14th, 2026

I really liked these two verses I came across recently.

Psalm 9:9-10:
9. The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
10. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

I think why these verses resonated with me so much is because Jesus has been in the past and still is today, my refuge in times of trouble. I have always been a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. I’m definitely not perfect and I have days when I doubt, days when I feel alone, and days when I feel like no one understands what I am going through. I think we all do. But just knowing that Jesus is there for me any time I seek Him is a big comfort for me.

I will put my trust in Jesus forever because I know that He will never forsake me. I might distance myself from Him occasionally when I think I can do things myself and I think I don’t need help. But when I seek Him, He is there for me at a moment’s notice. That is where my hope lies, in Jesus being my refuge, especially during my hard times.

What Truly Satisfies the Soul

My Daily Musings-August 7th, 2026

I like this simple yet profound quote by C.S. Lewis: “What does not satisfy when we find it, was not the thing we were desiring.” I think what he was saying in that quote was that only the things of God can satisfy us in this life.

Just think about when you have felt truly satisfied in body and spirit. There are mortal things like a nice car, a nice home, food, and nice clothes that can satisfy our bodies temporarily. Then there are things that can satisfy us spiritually and help us feel whole. Going to church, reading the scriptures, or listening to uplifting music are some examples. I also feel satisfied when I kneel down and pray to my Heavenly Father.

When I say my personal prayers, I like to kneel down by my bed and say the prayer out loud. I feel like it helps my brain feel focused on what I am doing. It also feels like a real conversation with someone who is present in the room with me.
