A Little Color in Someone’s Storm

“You may not be able to stop someone’s rain. But your kindness can become a little color inside their storm.”

I am grateful every day for the wonderful people in my life who have shown me kindness and love. They have been the little bit of color I needed when the storms of my life have been heavy and fierce.

For someone who is struggling, sometimes the best thing we can do is sit in the rain with them and listen to them. We don’t even have to say anything; just the kindness of being there is enough. Then, if we feel guided to, we can share some of our story with them. We can learn a lot from the stories of others and how their faith was strengthened in their hardest moments.

Sometimes just sending a text that you are thinking about someone who is struggling is enough. Pray for those you know who are struggling with something hard. Then tell them you are praying for them. Your faith and prayers may be the color they need to make it through their storm.

Has someone ever shown you kindness during a difficult time that helped you through your storm? How can we be a little color in someone else’s storm this week?

When the Cross Feels Heavy

My Daily Musings-September 16th, 2026

I read John 19:16-19 today and I pondered the meaning, especially verse 17.

16 Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.

17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:

18 Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

19 And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, Jesus of Nazareth the King of the Jews.

Jesus carried His heavy cross to Golgotha to be crucified. I’m sure the weight of it would have been so heavy to carry alone. But He did it, for each one of us. I like to tell my readers through my writing that they are never alone, and when their burdens seem really heavy, they don’t have to carry them alone. Because Jesus carried His cross, we don’t have to carry our cross alone.

Let me explain more about what I mean. We all have crosses to bear: trials of illness, financial struggles, family struggles, or whatever difficulties we face. When we feel like our cross is too heavy to bear, we can reach out to our Savior for help. He will help us carry our cross. He will help lift our burdens for us. Most of the time, He won’t take the cross from us, but He will help us carry it so that our load isn’t too difficult to bear.

Some days when we feel alone, we might think that no one can truly understand what we are going through. Jesus understands our pain and suffering because He experienced tremendous suffering Himself. He is the One who can help us carry the cross of the burdens we have to carry. If we reach out to Him, He will always be willing to help us.

What does “carrying your cross” mean to you? How have you felt your Savior strengthen you during a difficult season?

Anchored in God’s Love

My Daily Musings-September 15th, 2026

“God’s presence brings peace in the middle of life’s storms. His love is an anchor that keeps us steady.”

If we can’t seem to find peace in our lives, maybe that is because we try to carry our burdens on our own. When we are going through difficult trials, we need to involve our Heavenly Father in our lives. He loves us so much and He wants to shower us with blessings. We only need to ask Him. He will shower us with peace, especially during times when our burdens seem too heavy to carry alone.

We can depend upon His love. It will always be there for us. It is an anchor in our lives that we can count on. It will never fail and it will keep us steady, especially during the storms of our lives.

I have felt the anchor of my Heavenly Father’s love in my life many times, too many to count. I have felt His love the most when the storms of my life became really heavy. There have been many times when I didn’t know if I could carry my burdens anymore. But He has always been there for me. I feel His love the most when I reach out to Him in prayer.

When have you felt God’s love keeping you steady during one of life’s storms? How has prayer helped you find peace when your burdens felt too heavy to carry alone?

Measured by the Heart

My Daily Musings-September 14th, 2026

“God never measures the mind. He always puts His tape measure in the heart.” – Corrie ten Boom

I love this quote because it is very true. It reminded me of this scripture:

“For the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7

I think those two concepts fit together beautifully. We are measured in this world by our outward appearance and sometimes by the mind, or what we have learned. But our Heavenly Father doesn’t measure us those ways. I love that Corrie Ten Boom’s quote says that “He puts the tape measure in the heart.” If we measure the outward appearance by a tape measure, then we can’t see what is inside a person. But our Heavenly Father knows us the best and He measures us by what is inside us, which is our heart. He alone knows what is going on inside us, sometimes even more than we do. This truth brings my soul peace: that in the eyes of the One who knows me best, I am measured by what is going on in my heart. My Father in Heaven sees the best in me and He knows the thoughts and intents of my heart.

This truth also helps me feel gratitude for my loving Heavenly Father, who does know me better than anyone, even better than I know myself. He sees me better than I see myself because He sees the best in me and who I can become.

I also feel grateful that because of His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, there is a chance for me to become a better person and to change my nature. Jesus also sees the best in me and who I can become.

How does knowing that God sees your heart change the way you see yourself? What does it mean to you that Jesus sees not only who you are today, but who you can become through Him?

Finding God in Every Season

Thank you for subscribing-may these words bring a quiet moment of peace and reflection to your day.

My Daily Musings-September 13th, 2026

I recently revisited Ecclesiastes 3:1–8, which talks about a season for this and a season for that. “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1. I want to talk about a couple of those times and seasons. But it’s interesting to me that there is opposition in all things on this earth. That’s the way our Heavenly Father made everything. Life contains different seasons—joy and sorrow, beginnings and endings, waiting and receiving, mourning and dancing—and our Heavenly Father is present and working within His timing.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time.”

There is “a time to weep, and a time to laugh.” One thing I have learned over the years is that it’s okay to weep and be sad for a while. But I don’t let those feelings consume me for very long. There’s a time to laugh as well. I think that both laughter and tears are good for the soul. It’s good for us to let our tears and emotions out so we can feel better. Then we can laugh, which is also good for the soul.

There is “a time to keep silence, and a time to speak.” This makes me think of listening to others. Sometimes it is best to just be silent and let others speak and share their thoughts. We can help others by just being there and listening to them. Then, when it’s our turn to speak, we will know what they said and be able to respond appropriately.

I firmly believe that there is a purpose for everything in this world. Our Heavenly Father created everything for a reason. We just need to trust in His plan for our lives, and then we can see the beauty around us and the purpose for which it was created.

What season of life do you feel like you are in right now, and what do you think God may be teaching you through it? Have you ever looked back on a difficult season and later seen a purpose or blessing that you couldn’t see at the time?
