When people are asked about the most important day in history, many point to remarkable human achievements—moments that changed the world in visible ways. But there is one night that stands above them all.

Nearly 2,000 years ago, in the quiet darkness of the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus Christ knelt in prayer and offered Himself as a ransom for our sins. In that sacred moment, He willingly took upon Himself suffering beyond our full comprehension—suffering in both body and spirit. Out of perfect love, He gave all so that we might receive all.

This was not a moment of applause or earthly recognition. It was a moment of surrender. A moment where divine love was poured out completely, even to the point of bleeding for us. Because of what happened in that garden, there is hope—for forgiveness, for healing, for change, and for returning home to God.

Without Christ’s suffering and sacrifice, there would be no path forward for us. No redemption. No true hope of becoming better than we are on our own. Gethsemane reminds us that we are never alone in our weakness and never beyond the reach of grace.

It calls us to remember the immeasurable debt of gratitude we owe the Savior—and the depth of His love for each of us, personally.
