A Ruth-Like Devotion

Thank you for subscribing-may these words bring a quiet moment of peace and reflection to your day.

My Daily Musings-June 9th, 2026

One of my favorite stories in the Old Testament is the story of Ruth and Naomi. After Naomi had lost so much, she encouraged Ruth to leave and continue on with her own life. But Ruth responded with one of the most beautiful declarations of loyalty found in scripture:

“Whither thou goest, I will go…” (Ruth 1:16)

Recently, I heard someone suggest that we could say those same words to Jesus Christ. What if we sincerely told Him, “Wherever You go, I will go. Your people will be my people. Your God will be my God.”

That thought touched my heart. Am I willing to follow Him wherever He leads, even when the path is difficult? Do I love Him enough to stay close to Him no matter what challenges arise?

The wonderful truth is that while we strive to stay near Him, He is already reaching out to stay near us. Jesus never abandons His disciples. As we turn toward Him, we will find that He is walking beside us every step of the way.

  1. Thank you to everyone who spent time with this post this week! Exploring how Ruth’s loyalty mirrors our relationship with Christ brought me so much peace while writing it.

Was there a specific part of Ruth and Naomi’s journey that stood out to you or comforted you most? I’d love for us to share our thoughts!
