Let Jesus Wash Your Feet

Thank you for subscribing-may these words bring a quiet moment of peace and reflection to your day.

Backstory:
I love the series, The Chosen. I just finished watching the newest season. I love the part at the Last Supper when Jesus wanted to wash His disciples’ feet. I probably would have reacted to that as Peter did. He didn’t want Jesus to wash His feet. Instead, Peter wanted to wash Jesus’ feet. I think we can learn a lot from this story. But one interpretation to me at least is that Jesus was showing His healing power. By washing His disciples’ feet, He was telling them that the Atoning sacrifice He was going to do that very night could heal them and wash away all the dirt off not only their feet but their very souls.

Let Jesus Wash Your Feet

For me, the story of Jesus washing His disciples’ feet is very important.
It can teach us great lessons even if our faith lately has been a little bit dormant.
When Jesus was on the earth, people wore sandals mostly,
So, washing someone’s feet would be a job that was all but holy.

However, Jesus makes everything that He touches holy
If we just watch His example even a little closely.
Jesus washed His disciples’ feet to give them an example,
But the act of washing their feet was with His healing power only a sample.

Just as feet need to be cleansed when they get dirty,
We need the cleansing power of Jesus and His amazing mercy.
None of us will ever be perfect and this we know,
We all make mistakes even though we may not want them to show.

The same night that Jesus washed His disciples’ feet,
He suffered for our sins and mistakes even though that suffering probably didn’t feel sweet.
He suffered because of His love for each one of us,
And because of that amazing sacrifice, our sins we don’t need to discuss.

We can access Jesus’ healing power any time of the day,
For He was an example to us and always showed us the right way.
Jesus can heal our soul and our broken heart,
And with Him we can always have a fresh new start.

The Takeaway: We can learn a lot from Bible stories about Jesus. Not one of us in this life is ever going to be perfect. Because of Jesus’ Atonement, we don’t need to let that get us down. Through His Atoning sacrifice, He can wash away our filth and sins. He can also help heal our heartaches. We just need to have faith that He can do this.
