Backstory:
The idea for this one came from a lesson in church on Sunday. There is a clip from John Bytheway on YouTube. He talks about the venus fly trap plant. Every year, the leaves of this plant that are above ground shrivel and die. While underground, the roots still grow and thrive. The plant has to go through this adversity every year so that it can come back to life again.
Caught and Set Free by Him
The venus fly trap plant goes through a transformation every year,
The leaves shrivel and the end may seem near.
While this process happens above ground,
New life in the roots can be found.
This plant has to go through this transforming process
So that it can spring forth new life and progress.
On the surface it may seem like it is dying,
But underneath, the plant is still trying.
We all experience adversity while on this earth,
It has been that way since our birth.
We may not know why we are meant to struggle,
Those times really cause us some trouble.
Our lives are like this plant,
Some days we may just want to rant.
Trials and turmoil hit us so hard
That we may feel like our heart is forever scarred.
We should let our trials transform and refine our life
Instead of letting them cause us so much strife.
Even though on the surface we may feel like we are shriveled up,
Our faith in Jesus through our trials can help fill our empty cup.
The Takeaway: We all go through trials and adversity in this life. When we go through these hard times, we can choose how we react to our circumstances. For most of us, being happy and grateful for our trials isn’t easy. But we can let our trials transform us and refine us into the people we are meant to be. We should remember that we are never alone, especially during our hard times.
