My Daily Musings-June 22nd, 2026
Charles Spurgeon wrote,“Have your heart right with Christ, and He will visit you often, and so turn weekdays into Sundays, meals into sacraments, homes into temples and earth into heaven.”
I love this thought because it reminds me that Jesus doesn’t only meet us in extraordinary moments. He comes into our ordinary days and makes them sacred.
What would happen if we invited Him into every part of our lives—the mundane routines, the quiet moments, and even our struggles? How might our perspective change if we looked for His presence in the middle of our everyday lives?
I think having our heart right with Christ means turning to Him in repentance, acknowledging our need for Him, and allowing His Atonement to work in us. As we do, He changes us little by little and transforms our ordinary moments into something beautiful.
When we let Jesus into our story, He can make far more of our lives than we ever could on our own.

Backstory: Lately I’ve been thinking about the weaknesses we carry and the mistakes we make. Sometimes those struggles feel discouraging, like proof that we are failing or not changing fast enough. But our weaknesses are not meant to defeat us—they are meant to teach us. As I reflected on my own struggles, I began to think of us like rough stones. When a stone is first taken from the earth, it is jagged and uneven. But over time, through polishing and shaping, those rough edges begin to smooth. In much the same way, the weaknesses we wrestle with throughout our lives can shape us if we allow the Savior to work in our hearts. Through His Atonement, our mistakes can become learning experiences instead of endings.
Learning From the Rough Places
My dear Father in Heaven, I love thee much, without question. I know I begin like a stone with edges so rough, And I know being human and changing is tough.
Please help me to smooth out the ways I behave, To become like Thy Son, the One who can save. Sometimes when Thy chisel strikes deep into me, It hurts—but Thou seest what I cannot see.
Thou knowest my soul when I’m tempted to quit; Thou seest the light when I cannot find it. When I am discouraged by each flaw and fault, Please bring my heart’s heavy spirit to halt.
When I lose my temper with those I hold dear, Help them to forgive me and cast out my fear. Help me forgive me, and find through Thy grace, The warmth of Thy steady and loving embrace.
Please, Father, from deep in my flawed, honest heart, I ask for Thy help to make a brand-new start. I trust that through Jesus, Thy Beloved Son, I can be refined until we are all one.
The Takeaway: Weaknesses and mistakes are not signs that we are beyond hope. They are opportunities to grow, to become more humble, and to turn our hearts toward Jesus Christ. Through Him, our rough places can be softened and refined. My Daily Musings-March 15th, 2026
Sometimes the hardest battles we fight are with ourselves.
There are days when I feel discouraged by my weaknesses. I have struggled with my temper for much of my life, and sometimes the smallest things can set me off—especially when I’m already tired or hurting. In those moments, I feel overwhelmed and wonder if I will ever truly change.
But then I remember something important.
No matter how hard I try on my own, I will always fall short. I’m human. None of us will be perfect in this life. That’s exactly why we need the Savior.
Because of Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice, failure is not the end of the story. When we fall, we can repent, stand up again, and keep trying. We may stumble again and again, but every effort to do better matters.
Maybe the goal isn’t perfection right now. Maybe the goal is simply not giving up.

“Do not be embarrassed of your failures… learn from them and start again.”
Sometimes we can be very hard on ourselves. We see our mistakes, our weaknesses, and the ways we fall short, and we feel discouraged. But the truth is that none of us came to this earth to be perfect. We came here to learn.
Our Heavenly Father knew we would stumble. He knew we would make mistakes. That is exactly why He gave us a Savior. Through Jesus Christ, our failures do not have to define us—they can refine us.
Every time we fall and choose to stand up again, we grow a little stronger. Every time we turn back to Him, we move a little closer to becoming the people He knows we can be.
So don’t be ashamed of your failures. Let them teach you. Let them humble you. And then begin again—with faith, with hope, and with the quiet knowledge that you are deeply loved.
