My Daily Musings-July 24th, 2026

My husband and I love watching the show The Chosen. I love the part on that show when Jesus said to his disciples that “prayer is the first step to getting your heart and your mind aligned.”

There are many examples of Jesus praying in the Bible when He goes to be alone and to talk to His Heavenly Father. But He also prays when He is suffering for us in the Garden of Gethsemane. In Luke 22:43-44: “And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.” When He was in agony and pain, He prayed that His Father would strengthen Him so that He could fulfill the mission He was sent to the earth to do.

Another great example of Jesus praying is when He was hanging on the cross. In Luke 23:33-34, “And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him…
Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” This is such a great example of forgiveness because He asked His Father to forgive the people who had put Him on the cross. And again, He prayed to the Father while He fulfilled His mission.

I love these examples of prayer and forgiveness. And I do believe that if we get our mind and heart aligned, we can pray more earnestly, but also that we can pray to help us get our heart and mind more aligned.

As Endless as the Sky

My Daily Musings-July 22nd, 2026

One of the characters in the book The Lumber Baron’s Wife by Lynn Austin talks about God’s love being as endless as the sky. If you look up at the sky, you can’t see the end of it, it seems like it goes on forever. Our Heavenly Father’s love is like that. We can feel it and we know it is there, but we can’t see the end of it because it is endless and eternal. I thought that was a really good analogy.

As someone who grew up with my parents teaching me about my Heavenly Father and that He always loved me and cared about me, I have kept that belief all of my life. I feel the love of my Heavenly Father the most when I kneel to Him in prayer. Every time I pray with sincere effort and wanting to communicate with Him, I feel His love for me.

Have you ever paused to look at the sky and let it remind you of God’s endless love? When have you felt His love most personally?

We can feel His love for us any time and anywhere. He will shower us with His endless love whenever we need it.

Where Everything Is Possible

My Daily Musings-July 21st, 2026

“The wonderful thing about praying is that you leave a world of not being able to do something, and enter God’s realm where everything is possible.” — Corrie Ten Boom

My mom recently shared this quote with our family, and it immediately resonated with me. Having read Corrie ten Boom’s books, I know she endured incredible hardship. That makes these words even more powerful. She understood that prayer doesn’t always change our circumstances right away, but it does place us in the hands of a God for whom nothing is impossible.

Over the past few years, as I’ve navigated the daily challenges of living with chronic illness, prayer has become more important to me than ever before. I find myself turning to my Heavenly Father with greater sincerity and dependence, knowing He understands every fear, every disappointment, and every hope. I don’t know exactly how He will answer every prayer, but I do know that when I walk beside Him, anything is possible according to His perfect will.

When life reminds you of everything you can’t do, where do you turn? Have you experienced the peace and strength that come from placing what seems impossible into God’s hands? I’m so grateful that prayer allows us to leave behind our limitations and enter God’s realm, where hope is always alive.

Strength Born From Hard Days

My Daily Musings-May 30th, 2026

Roger Lee said, “Don’t get angry when life gets too hard on you, be thankful that you’ve been given the opportunity to learn to become stronger.” I really like this quote because it is so true. It also makes me think of the Kelly Clarkson song lyric, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”

We are here on this earth to learn and grow and become more like our Savior and our Heavenly Father. Life was never meant to be easy all the time. Trials and hard moments help shape us into the people we are meant to become. Even though we sometimes wish our struggles could simply be taken away, they are often the very things that help us grow stronger in faith, compassion, and endurance.

I have days when I wish my chronic illness and all of its symptoms would disappear. Some days it makes life feel incredibly hard. But even in the middle of those struggles, I can see how it has changed me. It has made me stronger. It has brought me to my knees in prayer more than I used to, because prayer is often the only way I make it through my hardest days.

My Daily Musings-May 2nd, 2026

Listening to the audiobook When the Meadow Blooms by Ann H. Gabhart, two characters were talking about prayer. One said that prayer didn’t bring him any luck, so he stopped praying. The other wisely replied that prayer isn’t about luck—it’s about faith.

I wholeheartedly agree.

To pray to our Heavenly Father, we first need faith that He is there. Then we need faith that He hears us and answers our prayers in His own time and way.

All my life, I have known that my Heavenly Father has always been there for me—not because I have seen Him, because I haven’t—but because I have felt His power and His love when I pray. In those quiet moments, He has made His presence known to my heart.

Have you ever felt peace come while you were praying? Have you ever looked back and realized an answer came, even if it wasn’t what you expected?

Prayer is not luck. Prayer is trust. Prayer is faith reaching upward and heaven reaching back.
