My Daily Musings-June 10th, 2026
Since watching and re-watching The Chosen, I have become fascinated by the story of Nicodemus. The New Testament doesn’t tell us a great deal about him, but what it does tell us is powerful. Nicodemus was a respected Jewish leader who first came to Jesus at night with sincere questions. Later, he cautiously spoke in Jesus’ defense before other religious leaders. Then, after the Crucifixion, when being associated with Jesus carried great risk, Nicodemus stepped forward publicly to help prepare the Savior’s body for burial.
As I think about his story, I wonder if we can see a gradual change taking place within him. It seems that spending time with Jesus, witnessing His miracles, and hearing His teachings began to transform Nicodemus’ heart and nature.
His story makes me ask myself: Am I drawing close enough to Jesus for Him to change me? Can I see evidence in my thoughts, actions, and attitudes that my relationship with Him is shaping who I am becoming?
The closer we come to the Savior, the more His light, love, and example can influence us. Perhaps one of the greatest measures of our discipleship is not simply how much we know about Christ, but how much becoming close to Him is changing us.
What changes have you seen in your own life as you’ve drawn closer to Jesus? In what ways is He helping you become someone new?
