My Daily Musings-May 9th, 2026
Mother’s Day has always been a tender day for me. While so many are celebrating motherhood, I often find myself quietly grieving the baby I lost through miscarriage years ago and the infertility journey that has continued through much of my life. In my 40’s, I still carry the ache of longing for children and wondering what might have been.
Most days, I try not to dwell on my trials. I try to focus on gratitude for the many blessings God has given me. But holidays like Mother’s Day can magnify the empty spaces in our hearts. Have you ever found yourself celebrating with others while also carrying your own private sorrow? Have you ever felt grateful and grieving at the same time?
Even in the sadness, I find so much to be thankful for. I am deeply grateful for my wonderful mother and the example of love, sacrifice, kindness, and faith she has always been to me. I am grateful for my sisters, who are beautiful mothers, for my mother-in-law, and for the many women who nurture, serve, teach, comfort, and love others in Christlike ways every day.
Motherhood takes many forms. Some women mother children, while others mother hearts. Some nurture through compassion, friendship, service, faith, encouragement, or simply by showing up for others when they are hurting. I am reminded that God sees every quiet ache and every unseen offering of love.
For those who carry tenderness on Mother’s Day, you are not forgotten by Him.
