“There is but one good; that is God. Everything else is good when it looks to Him and bad when it turns from Him.” -C.S. Lewis

Our Heavenly Father exemplifies everything that is good. If we want to be good, we can look to Him for how to be good. He is always so loving, kind, forgiving, compassionate, charitable, and so many other qualities. We are His children and He loves us very much. He is always willing to forgive us when we turn to Him. If we want to learn what real love is, we only need to look to Him and see how He loves each one of us.

I have felt His love for me too many times to count. That makes me feel so grateful that He is there for me, no matter what. My favorite way to feel His love is through prayer. Any time of day, I can kneel down and pray. He sends His love in an instant whenever I need it. People will come in and out of our lives, and sometimes the only constant is the love of our Heavenly Father. We can always count on His love.

He will always be there for us and Abide with us, no matter what. We always have another chance to become better because of His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. I think the perfect example of our Father’s goodness is in the sacrifice of His Son. He sent His Son down to this earth as a sacrifice for us because He loves us so much. I can’t imagine how hard it must have been for our Heavenly Father to sacrifice His Son, but He did it anyway. He knew that because we are human, we would need a way back to Him. He provided that way through His Son.

How have you felt your Heavenly Father’s love in your life? What is one quality of our Heavenly Father that you would like to develop more in your own life?

Measured by the Heart

“God never measures the mind. He always puts His tape measure in the heart.” – Corrie ten Boom

I love this quote because it is very true. It reminded me of this scripture:

“For the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.”
— 1 Samuel 16:7

I think those two concepts fit together beautifully. We are measured in this world by our outward appearance and sometimes by the mind, or what we have learned. But our Heavenly Father doesn’t measure us those ways. I love that Corrie Ten Boom’s quote says that “He puts the tape measure in the heart.” If we measure the outward appearance by a tape measure, then we can’t see what is inside a person. But our Heavenly Father knows us the best and He measures us by what is inside us, which is our heart. He alone knows what is going on inside us, sometimes even more than we do. This truth brings my soul peace: that in the eyes of the One who knows me best, I am measured by what is going on in my heart. My Father in Heaven sees the best in me and He knows the thoughts and intents of my heart.

This truth also helps me feel gratitude for my loving Heavenly Father, who does know me better than anyone, even better than I know myself. He sees me better than I see myself because He sees the best in me and who I can become.

I also feel grateful that because of His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, there is a chance for me to become a better person and to change my nature. Jesus also sees the best in me and who I can become.

How does knowing that God sees your heart change the way you see yourself? What does it mean to you that Jesus sees not only who you are today, but who you can become through Him?

A Heart Full of Praise

My Daily Musings- September 4th, 2026

I have loved the book of Psalms in the Old Testament for a long time. But recently it has really stood out to me. I especially love Psalm 116. In the first verse it says, I love the Lord,” then it tells us why the person loves Him. On the Don’t Miss This podcast this week, one of the hosts asked us to write down, “I love the Lord” and then write down why you love him. She said that “praise works wonders for the soul.” I really like that idea.

I think of Lord here as referring to my Heavenly Father. So, here are some of the reasons why I love my Heavenly Father. When I pray to Him with a sincere heart, I can feel His love for me and I can feel that He is there. That truth alone is incredible to me. I am not perfect and I make so many mistakes, but no matter what I do, He loves me with a love I can’t even begin to imagine. Also, that He wants to listen to me and hear about my problems is amazing.

He created this earth with the beauties of the mountains, the blue sky, the puffy white clouds, the animals, and human beings for me to enjoy. I am amazed when I look at the beauties of nature all around me.

But the main reason why I love Him so much is because He sacrificed His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, so that I can repent, become better and live with Him again someday. I can’t imagine how hard that must have been to watch Jesus suffer. But my Father knew that I would need a Savior, so He did it.

I could list more reasons, but for now, that’s all.

When you think about all that God has done for you, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Have you ever taken time to write down the reasons you love God?

Known, Created and Loved

I really like this quote by George MacDonald: “To have been thought about, born in God’s thought, and then made by God, is the dearest, grandest and most precious thing in all thinking.”

I think one reason this really resonated with me is because it made me think that my Heavenly Father loved me so much that He chose to create me, even with my faults and shortcomings. But He does love me so much, even though I have so many faults, that it’s overwhelming sometimes.

But I have always believed that my Heavenly Father created me because He loves me so much. He created each one of us because He loves us and we are so precious to Him, even with our many faults and failings. That’s miraculous to think about. He knows us better than anyone, better than we know ourselves, and He loves us more than anyone and more than we could ever imagine.

Have you ever stopped to think that God created you because He wanted you in the world? How does remembering that you were created by a loving God change the way you see yourself?
