My Daily Musings-June 28th, 2026
As children, many of us grow up reading fairy tales where everything ends with a beautiful “happily ever after.” But real life often looks different. Sometimes our happily ever after isn’t found in getting everything we once dreamed of. Sometimes it’s found in learning to adapt, finding joy in unexpected places, and trusting that God is writing a different story than the one we had planned.
When Mike and I got married nineteen years ago, we imagined becoming parents someday. That chapter never came to be for us, and we had to reshape our vision of what a happy life together would look like. More recently, living with chronic illness has taught me to adapt in ways I never expected. Many days, my body simply doesn’t allow me to do all that I would like to do.
Have you ever had to let go of the life you thought you would have? Have you discovered unexpected blessings in the story God was writing instead?
I don’t always understand why certain dreams remain unfulfilled, but I do know this: our Heavenly Father sees the whole picture. His plans are greater than ours, and even when life doesn’t unfold the way we imagined, He still fills our lives with countless blessings. Perhaps happily ever after isn’t about getting everything we wanted—perhaps it’s about trusting the One who knows exactly what we need and finding joy in the beautiful gifts He has already placed along our path.
