The Courage to Continue

Backstory

This quote came from the book, The Warsaw Sisters by Amanda Barratt: “Perhaps courage is to be afraid, but to hold on still, until the end.” This book is about two sisters and other resistance fighters in WWII era in Poland. I have always admired the courage those people showed in standing up to Hitler and his regime. This made think that even though most of us are not fighting in a physical war now, we are fighting battles in our hearts. We too need courage to fight our battles every day.

The Courage to Continue

As I wake up and try to face another day,

I don’t know what will happen today.

Fear tells me to just stay in bed,

And pull the covers back over my head.

Courage inside tells me to get up,

So I do as I try to fill my almost empty faith cup.

Some days it’s hard to face another day,

Because I don’t know what crazy symptoms will come my way.

Some days are discouraging and I don’t know if I can keep going,

Fear tells me to give in to the darkness that is already growing.

Courage tells me to have faith and trust in God’s plan,

Even though I don’t know what will happen next, maybe I can.

Most days I don’t feel very strong in my soul,

But I trust that some day after this life my body will be made whole.

Fear tells me to give up the fight,

But courage tells me to go towards God’s light.

So in despair, I sink down to my knees in prayer,

Hoping that my Heavenly Father will be there.

In that moment, I feel His loving arms around me,

And His plan for my life I can more clearly see.

The Takeaway

In this day and age, we may not be fighting physical battles, but we still need courage to fight the battles within us every day. Some days, when I am living with chronic illness symptoms, it takes courage to get out of bed and face the day. I need to trust in my Heavenly Father’s plan for my life. He is there whenever I reach out to Him in prayer. I need to have courage and hold on until my battles on earth are done.

What battles are you facing in your life that require courage to keep going?

Have you ever experienced a time when you were afraid but found the courage to keep holding on? What helped you through it?

Surrender, Humility, and Growth

My Daily Musings-August 19th, 2026

My husband and I have been watching the show, The Chosen in the Wild, where Bear Grylls takes some of the cast of the show, The Chosen, on an adventure in the wild. He talks to them about the show and their lives.

Dallas Jenkins, the producer of The Chosen, was on an episode I watched recently. After he did a very physical challenge across a river, he said that “surrender and humility always precede growth.” That could be applied to our lives. We all have hard trials that feel like they might break us at times. But if we are humble, trust in our Heavenly Father, and completely surrender to His will, we can grow and develop into the people He wants us to be.

It is hard for me to surrender to my Heavenly Father’s will that having chronic illness symptoms that disrupt my every day life is what I need to experience now. But I trust that He will help me make it through every day, and experience joy in the journey along the way.

It is hard to surrender our will to our Father’s will because we don’t know what is going to happen next. We need to have faith that our Heavenly Father has a plan for each one of us, that He has a purpose for our lives, and that He can do more good in our lives than we ever could.

Have you ever gone through a difficult experience that helped you grow in ways you didn’t expect? What does surrendering your will to God’s will mean to you?

When I Can’t See the Whole Picture

My Daily Musings-March 30th, 2026

Sometimes I think about how different life would feel if I could see the full picture—if I knew how every trial would turn out, or why certain things happen when they do.

If I could see what Heavenly Father sees, would I still carry the same worries? Would I stress over the unknown, or would I rest more fully in peace?

The truth is, I can’t see it all—and maybe I’m not meant to.

Because faith isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about trusting the One who does.

Even when life feels uncertain, I believe that Heavenly Father knows what He is doing. He sees the beginning, the middle, and the end. He understands the purpose behind every trial, even when I don’t.

What if, instead of trying to understand everything, I chose to trust more deeply?

What if I believed that His plan for me is good, even when it’s hard?

Maybe peace doesn’t come from seeing the full picture… but from trusting the One who already does.
