The Door of My Heart

Thank you so much to all of my subscribers for your warmth, support, and for walking along this faith journey with me!
Backstory

Corrie ten Boom once said, “When we are powerless to do a thing, it is a great joy that we can come and step inside the ability of Jesus.” This made me think of Jesus standing outside a door. The door could represent our hearts. All we have to do is let Him in, and He will abide with us. But we may think that we don’t have everything together, or that our hearts are messy. If we let Him in, He will take what we have and make it more.

The Door of My Heart

I have so many things to do That I can’t keep going and I feel blue. I feel that I have nothing left to give, So I don’t know how I will live.
Just as I think this, I notice someone Standing outside my door, but it could be anyone. As I look out, I recognize who it is in an instant For it is my Savior, with His light shining so brilliant.
I look around my house and everything is messy So I don’t know if I should let Him in because I’m not ready. I open the door anyway and I let His light inside, I fall to my knees at His feet as I say that I have tried.
I apologize to Jesus about the mess, But it doesn’t matter to Him, so I don’t stress. He tells me that all He wants is my willing heart, And if I can give Him that, He will do His part.
I look inside my heart and I don’t like what I see, And I wonder, “Would He really want this version of me?” He embraces me and I feel His amazing love, That He brought with Him from His Father above.
The Takeaway: We might get so overwhelmed or stressed by our busy lives that we might consider giving up. We may sometimes feel that we are alone in our struggles. But we are never alone. When our strength gives out, we can always reach out to our Savior for help. He will take our messy hearts and make them into something beautiful.

My Daily Musings-August 6th, 2026

I recently listened to the audiobook, Finding Dorothy by Elizabeth Letts. It’s a really interesting book about the life of L. Frank Baum (who wrote the Wizard of Oz books) and his wife, then after Frank Baum died, the story goes into the making of the Wizard of Oz movie.

I learned from that book that the iconic song sung by Judy Garland, “Over the Rainbow” was almost cut from the movie, the Wizard of Oz. I have always been a big fan of that movie and the song, so I can’t imagine the movie without that song.

I have been thinking about the meaning behind that song. In the beginning of the movie, Dorothylives on a farm in Kansas with her aunt and uncle. She feels lonely, misunderstood, and dreams of a place that is more peaceful and kinder. That place seems so far away, and Dorothy wants to be there so badly. The rainbow represents the distance between her difficult present and the life she longs for.

I think we can all relate to Dorothy in one way or another. We all long for something we don’t have. For me, I long for children I haven’t been blessed with in this mortal life. And then, I long for the life I used to have before my chronic illness symptoms showed up.

The hope we all long for isn’t found over the rainbow, but it’s found in our Savior, Jesus Christ. Because of Him, there is always hope. There is hope for this life because He is always there to help us. And there is hope for the future after this life.

Melodies & Musings

A while back, my Mom and I memorized the words of the song, It Is Well With My Soul. For many years, that song has been a favorite of mine. But especially after hearing the hardships that Horatio Spafford, who wrote the words of the song, went through before he wrote the song.

I wrote a poem about his backstory and how I can apply the hope and faith I have in my Savior, Jesus Christ, even though I have hard days and trials that seem heavy. Here’s the link to the poem:https://faithcenteredinspiration.com/2026/01/19/it-is-well-with-my-soul/

My whole life, I have held onto a firm belief of my Savior, that He suffered and felt all of the pains and trials I go through in this life. Over the last 4 1/2 years since I have been dealing with chronic health issues, my faith and hope in my Savior has increased.

I still have really hard days with my health when I don’t know if I can make it anymore. But those hard days come to an end and the sun always rises. So for me, that’s enough.
