Growing in the Waiting

“Think of yourself just as a seed patiently wintering in the earth; waiting to come up a flower in the Gardener’s good time, up into the real world, the real waking.” C.S. Lewis

I really love this quote. We can think of our Heavenly Father as the Gardener and we are seeds planted in the ground. We need to trust in the Gardener and wait to come up in His timing and in His way. But when we are in the ground, we are constantly building our faith and growing. Our faith may have started as a small seed but if we receive the soil, water, and nutrients we need, we can grow into a gorgeous blooming flower one day.

In this world, with the trials that we face, our faith shouldn’t be dormant. We should constantly nourish it with good nutrients so that it can grow. Ever since I was little, I have heard that faith is an action word. That is very true. We need to constantly work on our faith or else it won’t grow.

Sometimes we need to trust in our Heavenly Father and in His plan for our lives. His timing is different than ours and sometimes we need to wait before blessings come to us. I have felt this in my life many times. On a daily basis, I deal with many chronic illness symptoms that disrupt my life. I sometimes lose sight of what is most important in my life, and that’s my faith and trust in my Heavenly Father. Even though I have to wait for these symptoms to ease, I need to trust that this is part of my Heavenly Father’s plan for my life. But He has blessed me in so many ways that I can’t even comprehend while I wait to be healed physically.

Have you ever experienced a season of waiting when God was quietly growing your faith? What helps you trust in Heavenly Father’s timing when you don’t understand His plan?

The Waiting Room

Thank you for subscribing-may these words bring a quiet moment of peace and reflection to your day.

Backstory:
Lately, I have spent a lot of time waiting—waiting in doctor offices, waiting for bloodwork results, waiting for answers that never seem to fully come. Living with chronic illness can feel exhausting, especially when tests say everything is “normal” while your body tells a different story. In the middle of the uncertainty, the endless appointments, and the quiet discouragement, I have been thinking about how much faith can be required simply to keep going. This writing was inspired by the emotional and spiritual waiting game that so many people silently live through every day.

The Waiting Room

I wake up every day and get out of my bed,
But I just want to stay and pull the covers over my head.
I have another doctor’s appointment later in the day,
And the monotony is more than I can say.

Waiting is a normal part of having a chronic illness,
And it gets lonely sitting in the stillness.
My life feels like a waiting room,
Hoping for answers but resting in the gloom.

Getting my blood drawn and more tests done,
The heavy burden sometimes weighs a ton.
Waiting to be seen, not just treated as a number.
When I am so exhausted that I would rather slumber.

Then the tests show that everything is fine
When that’s not what my body says with every sign.
Constantly waiting feels like walking a road all alone,
Searching for answers that seem to be unknown.

But I pray every day for the strength to keep going,
And hope that my struggle on the inside isn’t showing.
I trust that my Heavenly Father will lead and guide me
And with Him by my side, from the burden I’ll be free.

The Takeaway: Sometimes faith is not found in immediate healing or clear answers, but in continuing to hope while living in the unknown. Even in the waiting, Heavenly Father sees our struggles, hears our prayers, and walks beside us through every unanswered question.

Trusting the Timing I Cannot See

Thank you for subscribing-may these words bring a quiet moment of peace and reflection to your day.

My Daily Musings-March 29th, 2026

Romans 8:28 has always felt like a quiet anchor to me: “All things work together for good to them that love God.” Not some things. Not just the easy things. All things.

I hold onto that, especially on the days that feel heavy—when trials stretch on longer than I thought they would, and the answers I’m hoping for don’t come when I want them to. There are moments when simply getting out of bed feels like an act of faith.

And maybe it is.

Because choosing to keep going, even when life feels uncertain, is a quiet way of saying, “I trust You.” I trust that God sees the full picture I cannot. I trust that even this—especially this—can be woven into something good.

But if I’m honest, the hardest part isn’t always the trial itself. It’s the waiting.

Waiting for healing.
Waiting for clarity.
Waiting for blessings that feel just out of reach.

Why does His timing feel so slow when my heart is ready now? Why do answers sometimes come only after the struggle has already changed me?

Maybe part of the blessing is who we become while we wait.

So today, I’m holding onto hope. Not because everything is easy, but because I believe God is still working—behind the scenes, in the unseen, in ways I may not understand yet.

And I wonder:
What if the delay isn’t a denial, but a deeper preparation?
What if something good is already unfolding, even if I can’t see it yet?

Tender Mercies While We Wait

Thank you for subscribing-may these words bring a quiet moment of peace and reflection to your day.

Backstory:
Abraham and Sarah were promised a son, but the promise didn’t come quickly. There were long years of waiting — years of watching others receive what they had prayed for. When Sarah laughed at the angel’s words, I imagine it was the sound of hope stretched thin. I understand that kind of waiting. There are miracles I have prayed for that have not come in the way I expected. Some days I still wonder if they ever will. But most days I try to be grateful for what I have and the every day tender mercies that come my way.

Tender Mercies While We Wait

Abraham and Sarah waited so long for their miracle to occur,
It was probably way longer than they would prefer.
However, they had no choice but to wait
And at times their hearts bore a heavy weight.

When the angel told them they would have a son in their old age,
Their first reaction was to laugh because it seemed funny at their stage.
They were finally blessed with a son
And their long wait was done.

We sometimes have to wait for blessings to come,
Even when we feel we’ve earned more than some.
Some have to wait a long time to get married,
And their dreams of that life might feel buried.

Some people like me, have to endure years of infertility
Even though they press through that time with dignity.
Some face every day with chronic illness
And they might doubt in the stillness.

Even though we have to wait longer than we would like to
We need to seek a higher, Heavenly view.
We should notice the every day tender mercies that come our way,
So that while we wait, our emotional sky won’t seem so gray.

The Takeaway: While we wait for the miracles we once imagined, we can learn to notice the quieter ones — the strength to keep going, the peace that steadies us, the kindness that arrives at just the right time. Maybe not all miracles change our circumstances. Some simply carry us through them.
