The Power of Prayer

My Daily Musings-October 29th, 2026

I really like this quote by Dwight L. Moody that says, “The Christian on his knees sees more than the philosopher on tiptoe.”

I have always believed in the power of prayer. There really is power in kneeling and pouring our hearts out to our Heavenly Father. When we pray with a sincere heart, He will help us feel His love. He will send us the peace and comfort we need. He already knows what we need and the desires of our hearts before we tell Him. He still wants us to communicate with Him through prayer. We can tell Him anything, just like we would to an earthly father. He will listen to us, no matter what we say to Him.

I have really relied on prayer over the last few years while I have been dealing with constant health issues. Some days, prayer to my Heavenly Father is the only way I make it through the day. On the more difficult days with my health, I pour my heart out in prayer to Him. He never lets me down. He is always there for me. He knows how hard life is sometimes. He sympathizes with my struggles. He is a listening ear when I don’t know if anyone is listening to me. He is a shoulder to cry on when I can’t vocalize the words and when my heart is heavy. He loves me more than I can ever comprehend.

So when you feel like no one understands the struggles you face every day, or when people let you down, just kneel down and pour out your heart to your Heavenly Father. He will be there beside you. He will send you His love.

Have you ever felt peace or comfort after sharing your deepest feelings with God? What would you say to someone who feels alone and wonders whether God is listening to their prayers?

Comfort in Unexpected Places

My adorable and sweet dog, Coco!

My Daily Musings-October 26th, 2026

“Some days, God’s comfort arrives with paws, a wet nose, and the quiet reminder that you are never as alone as you feel.”

I think our Heavenly Father sends us comfort in the ways He knows we need it. He knows us better than anyone. He knows what we need more than we do. Most days for me, comfort comes from my sweet dog, Coco. She is there for me every day. I love seeing her so happy to see me when I have been gone, and every morning after I wake up. I have always loved dogs. They have such sweet and beautiful souls. They don’t talk to us through words, but their love means more than any words ever could. Coco knows when I’m having a hard day. She is extra sweet to me on those days.

I know that our Heavenly Father never wants us to feel alone. We do occasionally feel that way when we think that no one can really understand the hard trials we face every day. We might get discouraged when the storms of life rage so fiercely around us. Some days, it’s hard to keep our heads above water. Just knowing that storms eventually pass and that better days are ahead is very comforting in the difficult times.

Our Heavenly Father also sends us angels in the form of family and friends. Having people around us who will always be there for us no matter what is very comforting as well. I have many wonderful people in my life who have listened to my problems, let me cry on their shoulders, and been there for me on the more difficult days. I am grateful for those people more than I can say.

In what unexpected ways have you felt Heavenly Father’s love during a difficult season of life? What helps you remember that you are not alone when life’s storms feel overwhelming?

The Brighter the Stars

Thank you for subscribing-may these words bring a quiet moment of peace and reflection to your day.

My Daily Musings-September 30th, 2026

“God’s promises are like the stars. The darker the night, the brighter they shine.”

One night recently, as I looked out my east-facing window, I noticed the moon rising. Then a couple of mornings later, as I looked out my west-facing window, I noticed the moon setting. I thought about the love of my Heavenly Father. He never leaves us in total darkness. He created this world and all the beauty we see. He knew that even at night, we would want at least some light. So He provided the moon and the stars.

This quote resonated with me, but I had never thought about God’s promises like the stars. When we feel darkness in our hearts, we should cling more tightly to His promises so we can feel light again. I know on my hardest health days, I cling to my Heavenly Father and His presence more. Just knowing that He is there whenever I need Him is a big comfort for me.

I think if we saw our problems from His eternal perspective, then they wouldn’t seem so hard. But we are on this earth and our trials are hard. Everyone has difficult times when they feel like they might break. I try to think of my trials in the eternal perspective. One day, when this life on earth is over, I will see that those hard times were not so bad. I will have a perfect and resurrected body without all the limitations my body has now. That truth brings me hope, especially on my hardest days.

How has keeping an eternal perspective helped you through a difficult trial? Have you ever experienced God’s light shining especially brightly during one of the darkest times in your life?

Crying Out to God

My Daily Musings-September 9th, 2026

When I was listening to the audiobook, Courting Mr. Emerson by Melody Carlson, a conversation between two characters jumped out at me. Willow said to Mr. Emerson that just because bad things happen in the world or to you, that doesn’t mean God doesn’t exist. He wants us to come to Him and cling to Him so we can get through the hard times. She said that during a particularly hard time in her life, she learned to cling to God and that time strengthened her belief and faith in Him and that He was there for her.

One particularly hard time in my life was after my miscarriage in 2009. For a while afterward, I was mad at my Heavenly Father for taking away from me something I wanted so badly-to be a mother. So I didn’t pray for a while. My amazing husband suggested that I just cry out my feelings, whether they were negative or positive, to my Heavenly Father. So I knelt down and did that with my husband’s arms wrapped around me. I couldn’t speak at first because I felt my Heavenly Father’s love for me so strongly. I spoke my emotions out loud. Most of those feelings were anger and disappointment. But afterward, I felt much better. After that moment, I knew that my Heavenly Father wanted me to communicate with Him, even if I was upset with Him. I also felt that He loved me very much.

After that experience, when I am going through hard times, I pray to Him and trust in His plan for my life instead of being mad at Him for my circumstances and not communicating with Him. Especially lately, living with fibromyalgia and an autoimmune disease, I have learned that the only way I can get through my hard days is pleading with my Heavenly Father to help me get through the day.

Have you ever gone through a difficult time that ultimately strengthened your faith in God? Have you ever felt like you could cry out to God with your honest feelings, even when those feelings were difficult or painful?

Walking the Road to Emmaus

Melodies & Musings

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how often we walk our own paths of grief or confusion, completely unaware that the Savior is walking right beside us.

I recently recorded a short, 45-second audio snippet reading a portion of my poem, “The Road to My Own Emmaus” (the one I shared on my recent podcast episode!). I paired it with a peaceful view to create a small space for reflection in our busy weeks. This is one of my favorite poems I have written and I shared it on the Latter-day Lights podcast when I was a guest on there a few months ago. If you missed it, here’s the link to the podcast episode: https://www.latterdaylights.com/podcast/youre-not-alone-finding-light-in-difficult-trials-christine-maynors-story/

If you’d like to read the full poem and sit with the words at your own pace, you can find the original post right here on the site. Thank you for walking this beautiful journey of faith with me.https://faithcenteredinspiration.com/2026/01/14/lord-abide-with-me/
