The Power of Prayer

I really like this quote by Dwight L. Moody that says, “The Christian on his knees sees more than the philosopher on tiptoe.”

I have always believed in the power of prayer. There really is power in kneeling and pouring our hearts out to our Heavenly Father. When we pray with a sincere heart, He will help us feel His love. He will send us the peace and comfort we need. He already knows what we need and the desires of our hearts before we tell Him. He still wants us to communicate with Him through prayer. We can tell Him anything, just like we would to an earthly father. He will listen to us, no matter what we say to Him.

I have really relied on prayer over the last few years while I have been dealing with constant health issues. Some days, prayer to my Heavenly Father is the only way I make it through the day. On the more difficult days with my health, I pour my heart out in prayer to Him. He never lets me down. He is always there for me. He knows how hard life is sometimes. He sympathizes with my struggles. He is a listening ear when I don’t know if anyone is listening to me. He is a shoulder to cry on when I can’t vocalize the words and when my heart is heavy. He loves me more than I can ever comprehend.

So when you feel like no one understands the struggles you face every day, or when people let you down, just kneel down and pour out your heart to your Heavenly Father. He will be there beside you. He will send you His love.

Have you ever felt peace or comfort after sharing your deepest feelings with God? What would you say to someone who feels alone and wonders whether God is listening to their prayers?

Prayer Is a Place for Every Emotion

My Daily Musings-October 22nd, 2026

Lately, I have more difficult days with my health than I have ever had in my life. On a particularly hard day recently, I was frustrated and grumpy at everything and everyone, including my sweet doggie. Afterwards, I felt bad about it. Something my therapist talked to me about recently came to my mind. I had an online session with her recently, and I cried through most of it. She said something like she hadn’t heard or seen me cry much since I started therapy with her which was maybe nine months ago. She asked me if I let my emotions and feelings out very much. I guess I hadn’t, since they all came flooding out to her.

Since that conversation, I have been getting my emotions and feelings, even the unpleasant ones, out to my Heavenly Father in prayer. My anger and frustrations usually are not about Him, so I think it’s fine. Even if I had anger toward Him, He would be ok with that. I think sometimes we need to get our emotions and feelings out so that we don’t explode those negative feelings on those we love. Lately, as often as I remember to, I check in with my emotional and mental state on bended knee to my Heavenly Father. I feel His love for me every time I come to Him in prayer, especially on the most difficult days with my health, when I can’t do very much and I get frustrated easily. I think it’s important for me to get my feelings out so they don’t fester. Every time I have done that lately, I feel so much better afterwards. My burdens feel lighter, even though nothing has changed but my mindset.

I felt drawn to write about this for some reason. If you are struggling with something hard right now, reach out to your Heavenly Father in prayer. You don’t need to say something eloquent or brilliant. Some of the best prayers come from the heart. He is our loving Heavenly Father and He wants us to communicate with Him through prayer. Even if our feelings are unpleasant, we can still reach out to Him. Even if it has been a while since you prayed, just start small. If you wonder whether your Heavenly Father loves and cares for you as one of His many children, ask Him how He feels about you. He will help you feel His love for you.

Have you ever poured your heart out to Heavenly Father in prayer and felt your burdens become lighter afterward? Have you ever had a time when prayer changed your perspective on a difficult situation, even though your circumstances didn’t change?
