A while back, I wrote about my Mom being one of the people who have been “anchors” for me. Another person I was really close to and who had a big impact on my life was my maternal grandfather, Grandpa Lee. He passed away in 2003 when I was 19 years old. Even though I only had 19 years with him as my grandfather on this earth, I still think about him a lot.

He was the best grandfather. He and I were about as close as a grandfather and granddaughter could possibly be. What I remember most about him was that whenever my family would visit him when I was little, he would hug me tight, put me on his lap, and read me a story. He believed that ice cream could heal anything, so he would sometimes let me have ice cream more than once a day.

He lived through the Great Depression and other difficult times in history. I always loved hearing his story from his own lips. When I visited his home, I never felt like I had spent enough time with him.

I still think about him a lot, even after all these years. I can feel his spirit and his influence in my life to this day. His legacy lives on in me. His strength in having faith through his trials helps me face my own trials today.

Who is someone from your past whose influence is still a part of your life today? What is one special memory you have of a grandparent or another loved one who made a lasting impact on your life?

A Book Ending I’d Love to Rewrite

If you didn’t know this about me, I’m an avid reader. Reading has become more readily available to me since I discovered audiobooks and Airpods Pro headphones. I can listen to a book so I can have it in the background when I’m cleaning, coloring, cooking, and the list goes on and on.

I have always loved to read, although when I was growing up, I didn’t like that my teachers forced me to read books I didn’t want to read. I like reading what I want for the fun of getting into a good story and getting lost in the imagination of it.

So, the answer to the writing prompt of ‘If you could rewrite any book’s ending, which one would you choose?’ I thought of one of my favorite book series: Harry Potter, specifically the 6th volume, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I really didn’t like that Professor Dumbledore died. Sorry if you haven’t read the series and I just spoiled it for you.

But I really loved Dumbledore’s character and how much he helped Harry get through so many trials and understand why things were happening to Harry the way they were. I realize that maybe Harry needed to stand on his own a little more and not rely on Dumbledore so much. But I still get sad every time I re-read that book and get to that part.

If you could rewrite the ending of any book, which one would you choose and why?

What’s one book you’ve read more than once because you loved it so much?

Dear Friends,

When I first started this website, my goal was to create a quiet, restful corner of the internet where we could look for the Savior’s hand in our daily lives and walk this path of faith together.

As my own journey has grown and shifted, I’ve realized that faith and testimony find expression in so many different ways—not just in written words, but in the melodies we sing, the poems we read aloud, and the stories we share out loud.

With that in mind, I have made a few updates to the website to help you navigate these different spaces, including adding two categories to our main pages that I am so excited about:

🎵 Melodies and Musings (Brand New!) This is a brand-new space where music, poetry, and storytelling meet. Here, I’ll be sharing short video clips of myself singing a favorite hymn or reading an original poem, paired with the fascinating history, backstories, and heart of the writers who penned them. If you’ve ever wanted to literally hear the message behind the musings, this is the place to be!

🎙️ Latter-day Lights While this category has been quietly growing since my guest appearance on the Latter-day Lights podcast, I realized I forgot to give it a proper home on our welcome pages! This space is dedicated to the honest, behind-the-scenes reflections of sharing my story, finding courage in vulnerability, and testifying of the Master Healer.

I have updated our category paths to make finding these spaces easier than ever. I invite you to click over to my Explore My Writing page, where you can wander through the new layouts and find the exact journey that speaks to your soul today.

Hope Beyond Our Sorrows

Melodies & Musings

One of my favorite hymns is Be Still, My Soul. I especially love the third verse because it is so full of hope and promise. It says,

“Be still, my soul: The hour is hast’ning on
When we shall be forever with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: When change and tears are past,
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.”

What I love about this verse is that someday the trials and troubles, grief and fear of this life will be gone, and we will be forever with the Lord. Then the sorrows and trials that we had on this earth won’t seem so terrible, we will forget about them because we will feel so much joy and be safe and blessed when we meet the Lord at last. This brings me so much hope and peace. Because of Jesus, there is hope. That’s why this song and especially this verse really resonate with me.

I especially love the theme of this verse because in this stage of my life when I have a chronic illness that may last the rest of my life, there is hope because after this life, I will be with my Savior and my body will be perfect because of Him.

Music and especially sacred hymns have always brought me peace and hope. This song is one of my favorite hymns. What hymn or song has brought you hope and peace, especially when you are going through hard times in your life?

I recorded a video of me singing the 3rd verse of this song. Listen to the video here:https://www.youtube.com/shorts/2xnsJ63ung4

Walking the Road to Emmaus

Melodies & Musings

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how often we walk our own paths of grief or confusion, completely unaware that the Savior is walking right beside us.

I recently recorded a short, 45-second audio snippet reading a portion of my poem, “The Road to My Own Emmaus” (the one I shared on my recent podcast episode!). I paired it with a peaceful view to create a small space for reflection in our busy weeks. This is one of my favorite poems I have written and I shared it on the Latter-day Lights podcast when I was a guest on there a few months ago. If you missed it, here’s the link to the podcast episode: https://www.latterdaylights.com/podcast/youre-not-alone-finding-light-in-difficult-trials-christine-maynors-story/

If you’d like to read the full poem and sit with the words at your own pace, you can find the original post right here on the site. Thank you for walking this beautiful journey of faith with me.https://faithcenteredinspiration.com/2026/01/14/lord-abide-with-me/

Have you ever looked back on a hard season and realized the Savior was walking right beside you the entire time, even when you felt completely alone? 📖✨
