Backstory:
As I reflected on Luke 6:27–28 and the Savior’s command to love our enemies, I found myself drawn to the final week of His life. During the very moments when He was betrayed, suffering, and ultimately crucified, Jesus didn’t turn to anger or hate—He chose love. From the Garden of Gethsemane to the cross, He showed that His teachings weren’t just words, but a way of living. His plea, “Father, forgive them,” has stayed on my heart and made me think more deeply about what it truly means to love as He loves.

Teach Me To Love Like That

The best example we can aspire to is our Savior, Jesus Christ,
He suffered for us and paid the ultimate price.
He went about doing good every day
And He healed and taught people as He went His way.

He was beaten, betrayed and hung on the cross,
Though He was innocent and without a cause.
While He hung on the cross, He forgave those who put Him there,
Showing us the Ultimate Example of love and care.

We should treat others like Jesus did
Who was kind to those around Him since He was a kid.
We should love our enemies
Even if they have bad tendencies.

We need to be kind to those are not kind to us
For in serving others, He dwells within us.
We need to bless those who curse our name
Because in God’s eyes we are all the same.

All us on this earth are human
And we make mistakes again and again.
We need to be like Jesus and forgive seventy times seven,
So that we can all embrace our Savior when we get to heaven.

The Takeaway: Loving those who are kind to us is easy—but Christ invites us to go further. He asks us to love those who hurt us, misunderstand us, or treat us unfairly. This Holy Week, we can strive to follow His perfect example by choosing compassion over resentment, kindness over anger, and forgiveness over hurt. As we do, we come closer to Him and begin to love a little more like He does.

My Daily Musings-March 18th, 2026

Sometimes I think about how much heart work the gospel really requires.

Jesus taught that the greatest commandment is to love God with all our heart, might, mind, and strength—and then to love our neighbor as ourselves. That order has always mattered.

Why does loving God come first?

Maybe it’s because He is the source of love. As we come to know Him—really know Him—we begin to understand patience, mercy, and compassion in a deeper way. His love starts to change us from the inside out.

And as that happens, loving others becomes less of a commandment we try to force… and more of a natural result of who we are becoming.

It’s a lot like growing up. As children, we don’t always understand why our parents ask certain things of us. But over time, we begin to see their love and wisdom more clearly.

Our Heavenly Father is the same. The more we trust His heart, the more our own hearts begin to reflect His.

So maybe the real question is:
Am I letting God shape my heart first?

And:
How might my relationships change if I loved others with the kind of love He shows me every day?
