My Daily Musings-August 16th, 2026
“Remember that you’re doing your best and your best doesn’t have to be perfect.”
This quote really resonated with me for a few reasons. I am pretty hard on myself, especially when it comes to my chronic health issues. I sometimes beat myself up inside because my body doesn’t let me do the things I want to do. Then I get discouraged. I have been working on being more kind to myself and not letting those symptoms or discouraging thoughts control my life. But it’s still hard some days.
I guess I still expect myself to be perfect sometimes, and that’s just not realistic. I need to remind myself that I am human and I make mistakes. I also need to remind myself how loved I am by others, especially by my Heavenly Father. He never expects us to be perfect in this life because He knows we won’t be. So we shouldn’t expect perfection in ourselves or in other people. We just need to give ourselves and others more grace to learn and grow instead of expecting perfection.
Do you ever find yourself expecting perfection from yourself, even when you know that perfection isn’t realistic? What helps you show yourself grace when you feel like you’re not doing enough?
