My Daily Musings-July 12th, 2026

One of my favorite moments in The Chosen comes in the Season 2 opener when John interviews the disciples years after Jesus’ resurrection. One disciple says that Jesus “knew him before he knew Him.” That simple statement has stayed with me.

Long before Jesus called His disciples, He already knew their personalities, their families, their strengths, their weaknesses, and every detail of their lives. The same is true for each of us. Jesus knows us far better than anyone else does—even better than we know ourselves.

What amazes me most is that He loves us anyway.

He sees every mistake we’ve made, every weakness we struggle to overcome, every burden we carry, and He never turns away. His love is complete, unwavering, and perfect.

Because of His suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane, we never have to face our trials alone. He understands our pain, strengthens us in our weakness, heals our broken hearts, and gives us hope to keep moving forward.

How does it change your perspective to know that Jesus has always known you completely and loves you perfectly anyway?

When have you felt His understanding and strength carrying you through a difficult season?

My Daily Musings-May 14th, 2026

One of my favorite reminders from scripture is that even in His greatest agony, Jesus Christ was not abandoned by His Father.

As the Savior suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane for our sins, sorrows, pains, and sicknesses, Luke records this tender moment:

“And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.”
—Luke 22:43–44

I have always been amazed that even though Jesus was divine and perfect, He still chose to feel every pain so completely. The Father allowed Him to experience suffering fully so that He could truly understand us. Because of that, there is no loneliness, heartbreak, fear, sickness, or sorrow we face that He does not already understand perfectly. What comfort does it bring to know that the Savior has already walked through every kind of pain before us?

I also love that Heavenly Father did not leave His Beloved Son to suffer without help. He sent an angel to strengthen Him so He could continue the sacred work He had been called to do. And I believe our Father in Heaven still does that for us today. Maybe angels come through people who listen, kind words at the right moment, quiet strength during hard days, or feelings of peace when we are overwhelmed. Have you ever felt Heaven strengthening you when you thought you could not keep going?

That truth brings me so much comfort: if Heavenly Father sent help to His Son in Gethsemane, He will also send help to us in our moments of need.

What Can I Give Back to Jesus?

Backstory:
As Holy Week approached, I found myself reflecting more deeply on the Savior’s Atonement—not just as a beautiful, overarching act of love for the world, but as something deeply personal. I began to think about Gethsemane, the cross, and the Resurrection in a more intimate way: He didn’t just suffer for everyone—He suffered for me. That realization led me to a quiet question in my heart: If He gave everything for me, what can I give back to Him? This writing became my way of exploring that question—of remembering His sacrifice and considering how I can follow Him more intentionally in my everyday life.

What Can I Give Back to Jesus?

Jesus suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane for me,
He did this so from suffering I could be free.
He felt all of the pains and fatigue that my body feels every day,
And because of that, my love for Him is more than I can say.

In the Garden when He was suffering, He felt alone,
And because of Him, my worries and cares are never unknown.
He was beaten and afflicted by many people,
He felt it all so that my soul could feel peaceful.

Jesus carried His cross up the hill
So that my heart could be still.
When my burdens feel too heavy to bear,
He suffered so that I would know that He is always there.

He died on that cross and was laid in a tomb
So that hope could blossom and replace the gloom.
He rose again on the third day
So that my skies don’t need to feel gray.

So, what can I give back to the One who gave everything for me?
I can strive to be more forgiving so that I can feel free.
I can be more kind and loving to others
Because we are all sisters and brothers.

The Takeaway: Because of Jesus Christ, we are never alone in our pain, our struggles, or our imperfections. He chose to suffer for us with a full knowledge of who we are—and He loves us still. We can’t repay that kind of love, but we can respond to it. We can choose Him. We can strive to be more patient, more forgiving, more like Him. And when we fall short, we can keep coming back—because His grace was never meant to be a one-time gift, but a constant source of healing and hope.
