Being Spiritually Filled

Backstory:

In Matthew 5:6, our Savior said, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled.” This got me thinking of the similarities of hunger and thirst of our physical bodies and that of our souls or spirits.

Being Spiritually Filled

Our physical bodies feel hunger and thirst during the day,

Only when we eat and drink can our bodies feel full.

Our souls can feel hungry and thirsty for the things that will in our minds and hearts stay.

We need to nourish our souls or we will always feel that pull.

We have times when we long for spiritual nourishment,

Our Father has given us many things so that our souls never need to feel empty.

He gives us special tools so we can feel some encouragement

And those things He always rains down on us plentifully.

We have the example of our Savior, Jesus Christ as our greatest tool,

We can read about His teachings and example in the scriptures.

We live in a world that can sometimes be cruel,

Reading the pleasing word of God can be to us a spiritual fixture.

We go to church to worship our Father and His Beloved Son,

Being there weekly helps to nourish our hungry souls.

If we ever feel like we don’t matter to the One,

We can be rest assured that we are written on our Beloved Father’s scrolls.

If we want to live a blessed life,

We need to make sure our spirits feel nourished.

Our lives probably won’t be free from strife,

But, we can more freely feel that our souls will flourish.

The Takeaway: Just like we need to fill our physical bodies with nourishing food and drinks, we also need to fill our souls and spirits with nourishing blessings our Heavenly Father has given us. We need to make sure that our souls never feel empty or bare. We will be blessed and be able to do all that we need to do on our earthly quest if we fill our souls with things of righteousness.
