Adjusting to a New Normal

My Daily Musings-June 1st, 2026

When the world changed in early 2020 because of Covid, everyone had to adjust to a new normal. Life suddenly looked different, harder, and uncertain. But when my health began changing about 4 1/2 years ago with symptoms of chronic illness and autoimmune disease, I found myself adjusting to a different kind of new normal—one that wasn’t shared by the whole world, but deeply personal to me.

At first, it was incredibly hard to accept the debilitating fatigue and the many symptoms that changed my everyday life. Even now, after years of doctor appointments, few answers, and medications that haven’t helped much, I still find myself adjusting every single day. Chronic illness teaches you that you often don’t know how you’ll feel when you wake up in the morning. How do you plan for life when every day feels uncertain? How do you keep going when there are no easy answers?

For me, the answer has been faith. I keep going because I believe there is always hope around the corner. Even on the hardest days, there is hope for tomorrow. And even if tomorrow isn’t easier, there is still hope in knowing I am not walking through it alone.

This journey has also taught me gratitude in a deeper way. No matter how difficult the day has been, there is always something to be thankful for. Sometimes it is something small, but it still matters. And prayer has become more precious to me than ever before. There are days when talking to my Heavenly Father is the very thing that carries me through.

Maybe we all have “new normals” in life that we never expected. But perhaps faith, hope, gratitude, and prayer are what help us keep adjusting, one day at a time.

Because of Jesus, There is Hope

My Daily Musings-May 5th, 2026

I read this verse today and it deeply touched me:

“In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.” —1 John 4:9

The words that stood out to me most were “that we might live through him.” What a beautiful promise. Because Jesus suffered for our sins, died for us, and was resurrected, we are not left without hope.

Through Him, we can overcome our sins and shortcomings. Through Him, hearts can heal. Through Him, we can change, grow, and become better than we were yesterday. And because He was resurrected, we know death is not the end—we can live again.

There are some days when hope feels harder to find. Life can weigh heavily, and answers may seem far away. But on those days, I cling to my testimony that because of my Savior, hope is never gone.

What helps you hold on to hope when life feels heavy? How has the Savior helped you feel alive again in difficult seasons?

Because of Jesus Christ, there is always hope.

The Hands That Lift Me Again

Backstory:
This writing was inspired by reflecting on how easy it can be for any of us to feel discouraged by our mistakes, weaknesses, and the times we fall short. In those moments, it can seem like getting back up is too hard or that we’ve fallen too far to be helped. As I thought about those feelings, I was reminded of the Savior’s constant love and His power to lift, heal, and strengthen us—no matter where we are or how many times we’ve fallen.

The Hands That Lift Me Again

If you have ever felt alone
Like you are in the darkness on your own.
If you feel like you’ve hit a wall,
And you’re stumbling through a heavy fall.

If you ever feel like you have fallen
Too many times to get back up again.
If your many shortcomings weigh you down,
And in the dark you sit and frown.

Just remember that there is One named Jesus
Who will help you overcome your every weakness.
He has been in the darkness Himself before
And He will help you when you feel like you can’t stand anymore.

He already suffered for your every sin
And He knows what it feels like to be in your skin.
Just know that Jesus will help you get up
When you have fallen, He will fill your empty cup.

You are never out of the reach of your Savior’s gentle touch,
For He loves you and cares about you so much.
Even if you were the only person on earth
He would have suffered so that you could feel your divine worth.

The Takeaway: We all have moments when we feel broken, weary, or unsure if we can keep trying. But no one is ever beyond the reach of Jesus Christ. He understands perfectly, and His hands are always extended to lift us, heal us, and help us begin again.
