My Daily Musings-July 23rd, 2026

My Mom picked this scripture for us to memorize this week and this verse really stuck out to me.

Deuteronomy 31:6-“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them; for the Lord thy God, He it is that doth go with thee; He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”

As I repeated these words this week before I researched the context of the verse, I could picture in my mind these words as a battle cry and I think they are in a way. Moses is 120 years old at the time and he has been wandering the wilderness with his people for 40 years. He knows his time is running short on this earth.

He says these words to his people as they are looking over the land of promise. God told Moses before that he would never set foot in the promised land. So Moses prepared Joshua to lead his people into the promised land.

These words have as much meaning for us today as they did back then. If you are going through something hard, you might think that you are alone in your struggles. Just think of these words, “He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”

Lately, I’ve been thinking more about the word abide.

In Elder Jeffrey R. Holland’s talk “Abide in Me,” he shares that in Spanish, “abide” is translated as permaneced en mi—to remain, to stay… but even more, to stay with a sense of permanence. Stay—but stay forever.

That meaning has stayed with me.

To abide isn’t just visiting with God when it’s convenient. It’s choosing to remain with Him—consistently, intentionally, and over a lifetime. It’s a quiet commitment that says, I’m not going anywhere.

And the beautiful part is that as we choose to remain with Him, we begin to recognize that He has always been reaching toward us.

What does it look like in your life to not just come to Him—but to stay?

Where might He already be inviting you to draw closer and remain a little longer?

Abiding isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence. It’s about choosing Him, again and again, and trusting that He is already choosing us.

My Daily Musings-April 20th, 2026

Earlier this year, my wonderful Aunt Cindy shared something simple but powerful with me. She said she likes to choose one word to focus on for the year. Her word this year is Center—a reminder to center her life more fully on Christ.

I loved that idea. It stayed with me.

As I thought and prayed about what my word could be, one came to my heart: Abide.

I’ve written recently about my desire for my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ, to abide with me—to not just visit in fleeting moments, but to remain, to stay, to be a constant presence in my life. Abide felt like the perfect word to hold onto this year.

Since choosing it, I’ve tried to be more intentional about noticing when I feel Their love abiding with me. And the beautiful thing is—I have felt it. Many times. In quiet moments, in small mercies, in gentle reminders that I am not alone.
