Backstory:
I read a quote from Corrie Ten Boom on Facebook that I really liked. It said, “What wings are to a bird, and sails are to a ship, so is prayer to the soul.” As a person who truly believes that prayer is important, this quote really resonated with me in my soul. I think the only reason I have made it through some hard times in my life is because I knew that I could pray to my Heavenly Father and that He would hear and answer my prayers. I really rely on prayer to help me, especially on my hardest days.
What Prayer Is To The Soul
Wings are not an accessory to a bird but they are essential
So that the bird can fly and fulfill its potential.
Wings allow a bird to rise above the ground,
They help it feel free and like its purpose can be found.
Prayer lifts the soul above earthly limitations
So it can feel free from its daily irritations.
Without prayer, the soul may still be alive,
But it will be unable to soar toward its Creator and thrive.
A ship can float without a sail
But it won’t fulfill its purpose and in strong winds, it might fail.
Sails allow a ship to move forward
And by yielding to the wind it can move onward.
Prayer opens the soul so that it can commune with its Creator,
And so that it can feel in line with nature.
As humans on this earth,
We are not meant to navigate on our own from our birth.
Praying to our Loving Father in Heaven
Should be as necessary to us as a bird to its wings without question.
When we pray, our soul is lifted, our heart is aligned
And our God becomes near and personal so that our soul can feel refined.
The Takeaway: We are not meant to navigate this life on our own. We have a Loving Heavenly Father who is waiting and willing to hear and answer our prayers. Just like a bird needs its wings and a ship needs its sails to move forward in life, our soul needs to pray to our Maker. We should feel that need deep within our souls.
