Backstory:
I was eating popcorn the other day and an idea came to me of how the process of popping corn kernels can be a lesson in my life. I like to apply everyday things to my life. So I researched if my idea was already a thing. And apparently it was, in the form of the Parable of Popcorn.
The Parable of Popcorn
We are popcorn kernels in this parable,
For applying things to our lives makes every day more bearable.
Our Father above gives every kernel of corn the potential to become something bigger,
And each kernel must endure the heat before it can pop with vigor.
Some kernels pop quickly after being exposed to heat,
Some take longer before they can pop and become a good treat.
Some kernels never pop at all because they refuse to go through the process of change,
Even though it could help them in their unique range.
We each have divine potential because we were created that way,
Every kernel looks small and hard at first but inside is something beautiful that will stay.
Popcorn only becomes what it was meant to be under heat,
The heat symbolizes the trials, delays or challenges we face so that we can get back on our feet.
Our growth in this life only comes when we are tested and tried
So we might as well just buckle our seatbelts and enjoy the ride.
Some kernels in the bowl of life never pop
Because of many reasons they let their trials for their growth stop.
We need to realize that everyone grows at their own pace
And we need to give everyone for their growth some space.
Our Loving Father works with us individually
But no matter how long it takes us to pop or progress, He will be with us continually.
The Takeaway: Our Loving Father above sees what we can become, even if we feel like a small, hard kernel of popcorn when we start out in this life. He doesn’t rush us and He never compares us to each other. He just patiently applies the right amount of warmth-love, teaching, correction and opportunities-until we open and become what He always knew we could be.
