Backstory:
On a RVVL podcast episode I listened to recently, the question was posed by one of the hosts, Stephan Taeger to the other host David Butler, “What makes a Christian?” David replied, “That to me, what makes a Christian is someone who believes that salvation was won in and through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. And that act should draw so much awe out of us, and so much wonder out of us, and so much admiration out of us.” I really liked this answer. I looked up the spiritual meanings of awe, wonder and admiration. I think we can apply those definitions more to our lives and that can help us feel more grateful for everything our Savior did for us.
Awe, Wonder and Admiration
Oh, my Loving Savior, I am in awe of You for all You did for me.
Because of Your suffering, when I feel darkness inside, with Your light I can clearly see.
I respect You so much because You gave Your life on the cross,
And because of that great gift, I can improve my many flaws.
I am so flawed and I have so many weaknesses to overcome,
Without You, there would be no hope to come from.
Because of You, I can return to my Heavenly Home after this life is over,
And when I have a hard day, I can feel Your warm embrace on my shoulder.
I can’t imagine what You went through,
But because of You I don’t have to constantly feel blue.
I feel wonder that connects me more to You and to my Loving Father,
So that I never feel alone or like I am a bother.
Oh, my Lord, I admire You so much!
I have days when I feel like I can’t go on but I know that You will reach out to me with Your Loving Touch.
When I hear about the miracles You performed,
I feel awe, wonder and admiration for You and my heart feels warmed.
Because of You, I always hope no matter what happens in my life,
Even though I won’t be totally free from all strife.
And when I have a hard day,
I know You will be there for me and with me You will forever stay.
The Takeaway: As Christians, we should feel awe, wonder and admiration for our Savior, Jesus Christ for all that He did for us. We are all flawed and human. Because of Jesus, there is always hope that we can change our natures and hopefully return to our Heavenly Home after this life.
