Backstory:
I write a lot about climbing figurative mountains mostly because I feel like every day living with an autoimmune disease like I do is like climbing a mountain, some days are steeper mountains than other days. I read a quote that I really liked that said, “You have been assigned this mountain to show others it can be moved.” I think that in a religious context, the only way we can even begin to move a mountain or to climb it is with our faith in Jesus Christ. Without that faith, I don’t think any obstacles in our lives could be overcome.
Moving Mountains
We experience many obstacles in our lives that make our paths hard,
And they might seem so difficult that our hearts are forever scarred.
We are given these mountains to move
So that our resilience to other people we can prove.
We can learn a lot from the experiences of others,
And we are here on this earth to help our sisters and brothers.
Even though moving a mountain might seem impossible
And we might feel that we ourselves are incapable.
We are not given any obstacle that is too much for us to handle
And moving those obstacles probably doesn’t feel comfortable.
But life isn’t meant to be easy
And this we can all see clearly.
Most days it will seem impossible to move a mountain
Of this we can be certain.
But if we rely on our faith to see us through,
Then we can overcome anything with Jesus at the head of our crew.
We just need to start by increasing our faith even just a little,
For if we do this much than our obstacles will seem more simple.
If the mountains in our lives are not removed,
Then with the strength of the Lord with us, our resilience can be proved.
The Takeaway: We are all given trials or obstacles in this life for a reason. Sometimes it is hard to know why. We are never given anything that we can’t overcome. We are not meant to do this life all by ourselves. We need to rely on our faith in our Savior. With Him by our side, we can overcome anything even if it seems impossible.
