Some chores at home are harder than others.
Cleaning my floors is one of those chores for me. It’s not something I enjoy, and because of my autoimmune disease, it always leaves my body feeling exhausted and sore. But over time, I’ve learned that I don’t have to dread it quite so much.
When I clean my floors,I put my AirPods in my ears, I turn my favorite country songs on my playlist, and I sing along to the music at the top of my lungs. I have always loved to sing. The music lifts my spirit, distracts my mind, and somehow makes the work feel lighter. What starts as an unpleasant and exhausting task becomes a moment of joy, movement, and even gratitude.
I’m reminded that sometimes we can’t change what we have to do-but we can change how we experience it. Small choices, like adding music or something we love, can transform a heavy moment into something a little more hopeful.
Even in the ordinary and exhausting parts of life, there are ways to invite light in.
So, ask yourself these questions: what is a task in your life that feels unpleasant or draining, and how could you make it more enjoyable? What small things help lift your spirit when your mind or body feels tired? How have you found joy or light in the ordinary moments of your day?
