Backstory:
I heard the parable of the pencil the other day and I think it can really apply to our lives. Basically, God is like a master craftsman who holds the pencil, guiding it to create beautiful work. Individuals are meant to be in God’s hand, allowing Him to guide their path.
We Are Like a Pencil
A pencil is made for a specific purpose and design,
We are God’s children and we are here for a specific purpose so we can shine.
We are capable of doing great things under our Father’s loving directions
Even when we feel like we have so many imperfections.
Our challenges and heartaches are like the sharpener,
They shape and strengthen us like wood is shaped under the hands of a skilled carpenter.
As we are shaped and sharpened through our trials,
We are being refined with our faith in those cycles.
The most important aspect of a pencil is not its outward appearance
But the lead or core which makes its mark with assistance.
Our Father is concerned with the heart and spiritual qualities of a person,
Instead of our outward version.
Pencils have erasers to correct any mistake
That the lead might make.
Because of the great sacrifice of our Savior,
Our sins can be erased and we can change our behavior.
So as a pencil, we should trust in our Father’s guiding and loving hand,
Even if our lives aren’t really going the way we had planned.
It might hurt us to be sharpened like a pencil,
But we can trust that our Father with us will always be careful.
The Takeaway: We are like a pencil in our Loving Father’s hands. He will sharpen and shape us occasionally. Even though that hurts us, we can trust that our Father has our best interests at heart. And because of the sacrifice of our Savior, we can erase any mistakes that we make so that we can be clean again.
