Backstory:
I have been thinking lately about all the violence and chaos in this world. I listened to a podcast episode the other day and they mentioned the song, How Firm a Foundation. I have always loved the message of this song. I’m a firm believer that music has a positive impact in our lives. This made me think about my spiritual foundation of faith and how I can make sure it is strong even with everything going on around me.

How Firm Is Our Foundation?
When we hear about something upsetting that happens in this world,
We might feel like all the fiery darts of the wicked are at our hearts being hurled.
But when we feel like this we need to change our perspective,
So that our thoughts can be more effective.

Even in all the chaos of these last days,
We should make sure that our spirits aren’t in a disruptive haze.
Yes, there is violence and chaos going on around us every day,
And if we let it creep into our thoughts, then there we will stay.

We need to make sure that our spiritual faith foundation is strong,
So that no matter what is going on, we can still sing a happy song.
We should change our behavior
And have our hearts and thoughts tuned to our Savior.

For with that foundation strong
We can face our challenges even when things go wrong.
We can withstand the storms in our life,
Even though we won’t be totally free from strife.

As long as our foundation is firmly rooted in our Savior,
We can be resilient even if we feel like a failure.
We should make sure our faith is firmly rooted on solid ground
For with Jesus by our side peace can always be found.

The Takeaway: There is so much violence, chaos and hatred in this world. You might ask yourself, “How can I survive with all that is going on around me?” I think it is important to make sure our spiritual foundation of faith is strongly rooted in our Savior, Jesus Christ. He will always be by our side and we can feel peace and comfort with that knowledge no matter what is going on around us.
