Backstory:
I was talking with my therapist a couple days ago. She mentioned that in Ephesians 2:10 in the Bible, it talks about us being God’s masterpiece. The Greek word for masterpiece or workmanship from that verse is “poiema”. This term is related to the English word “poem”. This signifies that we are God’s created product or work of art. Our Heavenly Father can be compared to a Master Artist and we are His beautiful work of art. This really resonated with me being a poet and knowing that I am one of God’s greatest creations. He gave me the gift of writing poetry as a way to glorify Him.
An Artist’s Greatest Masterpiece
I have always been intrigued by art
For I think it speaks right to my heart.
I don’t have a talent for drawing or painting
So I can’t imagine the amount of effort it takes in creating.
Our Heavenly Father created everyone on this earth,
And with Him we can discover our Divine worth.
In our finite brain, we can’t imagine how he created us,
But just knowing that He did is a big plus.
As the Master Artist, He put us down on His canvas,
And He was so experienced that He didn’t need any practice.
He knew what colors He wanted to use in all their variations
For we are His greatest creations.
If we could see ourselves through His loving eyes,
I think we would really be surprised.
He loves us without end
And because of that love, He is always our truest friend.
In this world we usually just look at the outward appearance of a person,
And that for each of us isn’t our best version.
Our Loving Heavenly Father looks on our heart
For we are His Loving Work of Art.
The Takeaway: We were all created by our Loving Heavenly Father. We are His beautiful masterpiece and He is the Master Artist. He knows us and loves us more than we could ever comprehend. We just need to remember that, especially when we don’t feel worthy of that love. It is there for us no matter what we do.
